  • You Guys Will Probably Laugh But...

    Hold the Line by TOTO

    Love that guitar solo.

Anybody know what kind of guitar that guy was using. All the TOTO stuff I have seen has a Les Paul and there is no way that solo was played with a Les Paul. It had to be something with a Whammy Bar.

No worries man, Toto's cool stuff. All members are top notch musicians, if the music had a bit more balls it would be great but otherwise it's good all around.

As for guitars, Steve Lukather used an Ibanez for a while then switched to a Valley Arts Strat then his Ernie Ball sig. He's got a Les Paulthat pops up from time to time too.

Luke has used many different LPs, strats, various superstrats, his sig. guitars etc. he always sounds good in studio no matter what he uses.

Live, he mostly uses his signature musicamans.
      His older models had floyds.

Awesome song, awesome solo. Luke has always had monstrous tone and chops. Righteous player!

Yeah despite the cheesiness of Toto, Steve had incredible taste & tone..... made it worth listening to. Toto Isolation was a great album.

nail the outro of Rosanna and you are a guitar player.

if you nail Jeff Procario's drum beat from Rosanna, then you are a real drummer

it's an insane piece of music I tell ya'

Big D from the board and I saw toto for free at the casino here this summer. Steve absolutely kicked ass.
Its a complete catastrophe. But Im a professional, I can rise above it. LOL

Luke played his Les Paul through his Rivera Modded Deluxe and a Dumble for that song.

I had a friend here that played in a cover band and he could NAIL not only the solo in "Hold the Line", but he could also nail the tone with an ADA MP-1, and later with a POD. I'm always amazed by what this guy could do with a guitar and his rack gear...

I am listening to the new album and it just plain rocks. Killer rock guitar tone and chops from Lukather.
