  • Anyone seen this.EVH and Roth again?

Just reading some news on blabbermouth.net Im syre this has been posted already but if not enjoy.im confused about the david lee roth thing but hey hope it happens some day.

Guitarist Eddie Van Halen appeared on "The Howard Stern Show" this morning (September 8) to promote the upcoming porn movie called "Sacred Sin", for which he recorded two songs. During the interview, Eddie stated he is open to playing again with former VAN HALEN frontman David Lee Roth, and described himself as being on the outs with VH bassist Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar (he referred to Sammy and Michael's THE OTHER HALF touring group a "cover band"). He also revealed that his next venture into music will be an album featuring himself, his brother Alex Van Halen on drums, and Eddie's son, Wolfgang.

Yeah, as much as I'd love to see Van Halen with DLR again, I just don't see it happeneing. I just don't think that all those giant egos can get along long enough for this to happen. On the other note.......I can't wait to hear Eddie, Alex, and Wolfgang together. I understand Wolfgang plays drums, guitar, and bass.

I wonder why he's on the outs with Michael Anthony?

From the outside looking in, all Michael Anthony did was give up his identity as a bass player, his tone, and his level in the mix to be the fourth guy in Van Halen behind Eddie's guitar, Alex's drums, and the vocals, in that order.

I mean really, what would Michael have to be upset about?

from what i remember he has always been at odds with michael, tried to cut him out of the last tour. Us musicians see VH as the original members, but most ticket paying people really wont care who is on bass as long as Eddies is on guitar, and either dave or sammy is singing. with that being said i think it comes down to a few things.

        1. more money for the rest of them if they have a session player do bass or even if wolfie plays bass.

        2. With only 3 original members, in band decisions it will always be two against 1 on decision time, so the VH brothers will always get there way.

        3. Right now Michael is playing with Sammy and more then likley VH is having a riff with sammy, so Michael took sides with sammy they do not want anything to do with him now.

Personaly i think VH needs a good kick the ass and to be put in the corner with a dunce cap for awhile and learn how to share better and be a better person.

I always wrote music for music, not for money or my own ego, i think that is what was the big fall of VH, they started writting to make money and forgot what the true spirit of music is!

VH without Mikeys background vocals (with either Dave or Sammy)
will not sound like VH. Period.
His voice is an integral part of their sound.
Eddie really sounds like he is turning into one big ass-hole.
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

I remember an article with EVH back in the early days that he didnt even like Mikes bass tone and to to work with it the best he could or he would just tune it out. Kinda of harsh dont ya think? Hmm i wonder if there was any annamosity from Mike on that one. lol Also in a recent interview with Mike her in chitown right before Sammy did Loop fest. ( like Oz fest but sponsered and set up by WLUP radio station) were Sammy was headlining and of course Mike was in tow for "The Other Half" set. But Mike was saying . That VH was pretty much non existant at that point so he had to do what he did to keep active and play music And what beeter way to do that then with the singer you;ve been working with for years? So thats what he did. Mike seems to be a pretty level headed guy and has no bad feelings for the VH brothers but time changes people and thier situations. So who knows. Oh and Wolfgang also plays Keyboards besides Guitar, drums, & bass.

Dave will say something stupid again and get the spotlight and that will be the end to that. Wasn't David Lee Roth's solo work what got him kicked out of VH. I think Michael touring in another band and doing it with someone Eddie is on the outs with, will get him kicked out of the band. I hope DLR does get back with VH since the only 2 good songs they have done in 22 years were the ones on the greatest hits volume one with Roth.

No Dave did the solo stuff after he was kicked out of Van Halen. Eddie did solo stuff while Dace was still in the band so if thats the case Eddie should kick himself out. lol He did Starfleet Project with Brian May and the soundtrack for FAst times at Ridgemont High 2. I think theres was a few other things but those come to mind. And of course most recently the soundtrack stuff on twister with Alex. The porn soundtrack doesnt count cus VH is pretty much non existant right now.

The only flaw in that theory is that Eddie owns Van Halen. There IS no kicking him out. Also, Dave did Crazy From the Heat while he was technically still in the band. He quit or was fired, depending on who you ask, after that release.

Yeah i know eddie owns van halen. It was more of a sarcastic comment then it was a suggetion. The announcment of Dave being out of VH was right abou tthe same time Crazy form the Heat was released. That how ever doesnt mean he was kicked out of the band after the album was finished.
So it may be pure speculation from the masses and the media at the time that dave was relieved of his contratual duties to VH after the album was released. It would however make more sense to him leavoing VH prior to its making due to his contract with VH. I dont know what was in that ocnract but the timeing just makes more sense from what we know about the band and Eddies stand on no solo stuff while in the band. Which he himself broke. so who really knows for sure except maybe VH, dave and Ted.

I always knew that Eddie didn't really pay any attention to Mike on bass for the entire duration of VH.

And I really don't blame him for seeking employment elsewhere during the years(!) of VH down time. Man's gotta play and put food on the table.

And between Sammy and Dave, Eddie should really go with Sammy. From what I've heard, Dave doesn't have very much left in the old tank vocal-wise. Sammy's still going strong.

But obviously egos are gonna win out here. Which means VH fans lose.

The monthly VH thread. Is there some video footage of the Howard Stern show? I want to see his teeth.
