Sales or credibility from the guitar playing community?

The two seem to be mutually exclusive to me in this case.

Phil's got many shiny records in frames on the wall. Way more than the players listed there.

    Kind of sad really....
The props I am talking about are from shredder to shredder, guitar player to guitar player. I could care less about hits and record sales. I give Phil Collen tons of props in regards to being in a great band, writing tons of hits and writing and playing great guitar parts. He certainly can't be put in the short list with Yngwie or Vai or Satch or Lynch etc....

Dimebag once said in an interview about either Phil Collen or the other guitar player in Def Leppard (can't remember his name now, sorry but it wasn't Vivian Campbell as far as I know), anyways, Darrell said something like: "I was young and he was young. I was out there playing an he was out there kicking ass."
      Respect dude

I don't think anybody is denying Phil his props. Heck.. he is one of Jackson's premier endorsee's and he is in one of the most popular bands in the world. He appears in almost every guitar mag. Just don't expect to see him on the G3 tour anytime soon.

          +1

He's also Jackson's only USA signature artist model artist. Kevin Bond, Wolbers, and Morton are all Pro series guitars. Not bad.

              Ouch!
I get your point though.. 2 hours of showing off, of course some people get tired of that. Then again you don't have to see it if you don't want to haha

The only one who has no one else interested in endorsing him if he leaves the payroll...?

Be honest... he doesn't have the cajones to hang with Vai or Satch...

I enjoy his playing more than Satch's, and DL's "Disintergrate" is one of the coolest instrumentals I've ever heard.

Robert Fripp isn't shredder at all, yet he was on G3

                      ouch!

But do you ever wonder how many players across the board that could apply to?

I can't tell you how many people I've seen get sig models and wonder how that happened.
