I just wish VH would put out a new album. All I care about is what he says with his guitar. What comes out of his mouth I've long since blocked out as idiotic. He's a musician, right. As long as the music is killer and plentiful he's my god. Once that stops, he should just shut up because I don't care.
Agreed, he's just a musicain for christ sakes!! Some people are taking this shit to seriously...............:
"When a naked man is chasing a woman through an ally with a butcher's knife and a hard-on, I figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross"............ Dirty Harry
I don't see what's disgusting Ed talking about his son banging chicks and jerking off
hmmm, still don't see it
I did it when I was 15, so did everyone else
I think it's kinda funny tho because I thought Bill Z Bubbles is the one who would say those kinda things
I guess the difference here is that when you were 15 your dad didn't get on a nationwide radio program and announce it to everyone.
All I really care about here is the creative product. When you have a CD in stores then I'll be ready for your interview. Until then, I'm not really interested. Unless it's an interview to give an update. Then give the update and go back to work. I don't really care if you have a girlfriend, or what extra curricular activities your son is engaging in. Just get to 5150 and record some music, like you used to do.
But you have to remember we live in the era of reality TV, the Ozzbournes, etc. where someone somewhere decided that we as the public needed to know the entire day to day activities that these celebrities have. Well I don't have time to sit around and watch you cook supper or take the trash out. If I found that so exciting I would get up and do it myself. Which I have to do anyway. So why witness this twice?
This trend has always bugged me.
What happened to the interviews we used to get in magazines? I don't know about you, but I always wanted to read about what gear the player was using, all the way down to amps, strings, and picks. I found that stuff interesting because it was something I wanted to know and could actually help me and my playing. But now I have to read articles about their personal life and how they feel about different issues. Just because you have certain political views or have a girlfriend or a new house isn't gonna help me improve as a guitarist. I don't need all that. I have my own views, my own house, and my own girlfriend. I need to imporve as a player. I wanna hear new music.
So Eddie, gimme my new CD!!!
I just realized I got a little carried away. I'm sorry. I'm going to go take the trash out now.
Eh, he's always talked like this. One of the guitar mags ran a "lost interview" with EVH a few months ago, it was done just before Fair Warning was being released. In it he trashed Michael Anthony and Roth saying that Michael didn't contribute anything to VH, yet he was driving around in a brand new Porsche, and Roth's range sucked.

I read that one too. Very brutal towards everybody without the last name Van Halen, that's for sure.
Dudes, the guy gets cancer (and beats it), he gets divorced (loses living with his wife and son), his band falls apart, his mom dies ... cut him some slack! Put on some old Van Halen and remember the good times! Don't count him out. Like they say in boxing "a former heavyweight champ is always only one win away from being a fan favorite."

yeah I also read that one a while ago.
that combined with this, yields my view as above.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives
I'm a fan of Yngwie's but you've got to admit that there is a certain redundancy is his career. He never really grew and he never out-did his first two records. Ed did. He also was successful in his commercial efforts whereas Yngwie failed in his. Not to slag Yngwie at all, but to say that his career has been brighter than Eddies is, IMO, wrong. Both revolutionized the way we play guitar, but Eddie was way more impressive in many ways...

I think Yngwie has demonstrated a fuckload more musical integrity over his entire career than Eddie has. especially at this point. I loved that early VH stuff, don't get me wrong, but Eddie went off a cliff and YJM did not (he just got fat and now is fading).
Yngwie has been more productive too. Plus EVH is no match for the fookin fury!@&)(* :ROTF:
well I didn't say YJM's career was brighter. moneywise, Eddie's has been.
I just said integrity-wise, I'd give the nod to Yngwie, that's all. like I said, he didn't go off the cliff and Eddie did, bigtime. not admitting your tongue cancer was from smoking and making up some cockamamie thing about a metal pick? please.
but Yngwie's out of ideas too now and he's gotten mired in that one style and even I'm bored with his new records now. at least he's not in complete denial about who he is and how he treats people and thinking doing music for a porn shot is a good career move.

I'm a big Yngwie fan, but Yngwie has also fired more sidemen in one year than EVH has in his entire career.
ha ha that is totally true.
but really, if you think about it, when Ed changed one singer, it changed and some say ruined his band. I never really bought into Van Hagar. some good songs, but overall the Roth years are the shit. the second change of singers DID ruin the band.
Van Lame-en the Cherone years.
that never occurred with Yngwie, the bands were still great, he just got boring, at least as far as new music went, it all sounds the same now.
so now they are both washed up guitar heroes trading on their names.
