Or You just do it the easy way and use a straight Marshall JMP-1..

You "can" do VH with a 5150, as does my Uberschall..I do it..but it does heavier metal tones much better..

For REAL classic VH tone..nothin' beats the JMP-1..IMO!!

other than a old Superlead a variac, and a bunch of MXR pedals and a echoplex..that makes lots of noise..

Had all three set ups..I much prefer the JMP-1.

        Never...NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bahahahahahahahaha.

My little Voodoo modded Vibro Champ sounds more like real Van Halen than a 5150 ever will.

I am thinking of trying a Blankenship or a Splawn next. The search will always go on for the ultimate Ed tone....

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

I got a really good classic VH tone out of 50wt VHT CL 2 -12" combo..and I really don't care for combos..

            ..except forPizza plavored Combos..

Not as good as the JMP-1 tho ..in which all of you obviously heard!!

That would surprise me, the typical Bogner circuits sound great but I wouldn't think they would have the touch sensitivty or attack I associate with VH - it's not what I look for or expect out of a Bogner design

Handle on the side, sweet. Finally! Interesting thing from a guy who grooved his gnitch with a dimed Marshall. I'ld be impressed if it beats a 5150 II. That (+ a BBE SM) is a strong head. Good to see Eddie isn't hubbling away locked in his house drinking pee like Howard Hughes. Now if we can just keep him from calling into radio stations. Man, I love Ed, but I was starting to worry that he would move into Ozzy's house and hook up with Whitney Houston after the fundering end of the last tour. He needs to keep on playin.

                  Bogner..wowee..that'll be sumthin'.

I thought it may be the same guts of a 5150 with a built-in BBE422 in the loop..

Have you ever played an XTC? I can get the VH tone no problem and one of the most verstile amps out there.

Great sounding, versatile amps, Love the tone but the touch sensity and attack isn't there for me like with a great Marshall or the Soldano. I think of EVH sound as notes almost exploding off the pick and cleaning up with lighter attack or bring back the guitar volume. I just don't get that vibe from Bogner.

Cornford amps are another that have it big time, my current fave but out of my price range.

Just my take and like I said I love the sound of Bogner'r especially the XTC, not so much the Shiva but it's still a great sound.
