I noticed in the latest Guitar World, "Inquirer" section Mike says he and Jackson are working on a sig model based on the Warrior design. He said he told them to build it like a tank! That should be cool. Has anyone else read this?

Re: “Metal” Mike Chlasciak
I know he's already received the prototype, and that was a few months ago. Last I heard his and Pat Lachman's guitars were going to be the first in the IMPORT Artist Signature series. Mike's is a neckthru Warrior that has METAL inlayed on the fretboard. His instructions to Kevin were to make it look like a "F**KING GERMAN TANK", so he did. It's black with white bevels and a Maltese Cross painted on the upper part. I wish I had a pic here, I'd post it.

Re: “Metal” Mike Chlasciak
A German tank and the Maltese Cross?
Wasn't the Maltese Cross originally a knights identification emblem, used in battles for a holy cause? And later on organisations used it for symbolizing protection of the weak, charity, ultimately saving lives.
And then we have the german tank, symbolizing death and destruction...
He he, i wonder if Mike and Jackson did have a talk of ethics at some stage of this project. Maybe he's having that conversation with FMIC right now I'm looking forward to see how it turns out!

But again, if one consider the acts of the german nazis to be for a holy cause and saving lives, it holds water to use that symbol...
OK, i haven't seen the guitar so maybe i should just chill out but constant media inputs has an impact on all of us, especially the young ones. Sometimes heavy metal just gets too connected to war and destruction in my opinion. I think this "equation" is often signalled in the heavy metal scene:
Metal = Maltese Cross = german tank = World War = Nazi = Cool!
We want pictures!

You dumbass moron. Nazi=cool????? they killed over six million jews, almost as many polish non-jews and you think it is cool? Where the hell did you come up with that equation? In neo nazi night school??? Get a history book and look up the gas chambers. Tell me if that is cool. go to the library(ever hear of one???) and take a look at the pictures of corpses beinb bulldozed into mass graves. Perhaps read about the surgeries done with out anesthesia. Cool huh???
I can without doubt say that nobody i know, and ive been listening to metal since 1978 consider any link between it and Nazis.
I sincerely hope that you are just a dumb naive child and dont really think that way. In any event, I most certainly am offended by YOU. And as far as Metal mike goes as a polish american, he spent too much time with his Metal Method tapes and not enough time in school.

Re: “Metal” Mike Chlasciak
Sinistas and Shredder
I did read his post quite a few times in fact. He is a misiguided individual. He did in fact refer to the cruelty but to joke about it and say "some may call it a holy cause and save lives?"" Please tell me who these some are. Correct me if im wrong, but is this individual European? HE SHOULD KNOW BETTER!!
to quote" I think this equation is often signalled in the heavy metal scene.....". WHAT SCENE IS HE INVOLVED WITH??? Remeber he made up the equation with his mind("I think" is a dead giveaway)
But the equation? and then a "cool!" with an exclamation point? Thats just plain ignorance. Nothing about the nazis is cool. You can tell me to back off when your great grandparents are slaughtered by an insane man just because of their religious beliefs.

Re: “Metal” Mike Chlasciak
For what it's worth, the Germans did not use the Maltese Cross symbol on their tanks and planes in WWII. They used a more plain 'straight up and down' cross symbol. The only use of the Maltese Cross during WWII was in the Iron Cross award given to soldiers. And, unfortunately, the WWII Iron Crosses had a swastika embossed on the black part of the award. I know, because I purchased a WWI Iron Cross in German antique store some years ago--the WWII awards were in better condition, but I wouldn't go near anything with a swastika on it.
I'm not even sure why the Nazis used the regular cross symbol on their equipment in WWII, since the Nazis hated Christianity. But the army and air force commanders were not, as a general rule, committed Nazis and probably considered the traditions of their forces much more important than the current German rulership--and the Nazis couldn't entirely afford to piss off their entire military command structure, could they?

Re: “Metal” Mike Chlasciak
German soldiers had something along the lines of "God with us" on their belt buckles, the Nazis weren't as opposed to religion as the Soviets/Communists were. Highly ranked church officials were even members of the National Socialist party, which is something the church still gets quite a lot of flak for nowadays.
As for crosses on German war equipment - in both world wars there were straight crosses used, not the maltese ones. Those maltese crosses can be found on the equipment of today's Bundeswehr (the German army) however, which probably is not exactly a symbol of tyranny.
As someone already correctly stated, the maltese/iron crosses were used as medals. In WW2, they had a swastika in the center of it (just like any other medal). I can dig out some pictures of both types of crosses if someone wants visual proof.
--edit--
And as far as Metal Mike, being Polish, wanting stuff reminding of a German WW2 tank on his guitar - why the hell not. People can run around with Che Guevara, Ho Chi Minh, Mao etc Tshirts and the commie star, which is a regime that is about as evil as the Nazis were, and don't cause everyone to scream and ***** at them.
