  • Pretty Maids, anyone?

Cool clip that I haven't seen in many, many years. The singer had a killer poofalooma hairdo.

    Future World....

        Very dodgy hairdo indeed!

I'll take the lead guitarist's Kramer Stagemaster though! Great thru-neck guitars!

I loved the song Future World. I bought that cassette when it came out. Except for like one other song on the album, I thought it sucked and I returned it.

Pretty Maids is from a city called Horsens in Denmark. Back in 1987-89, all my musical activities were in that same town, so I know them very well. Horsens quickly became a metal-mecca here in DK back then and there were a lot of bands sounding just like Pretty Maids.

I always thought they were kinda cheesy, they weren't exactly technically skilled (guitars), writing metal ballads and sounding too glam for my taste, but I have come to respect what they did and how far they took it. They are good composers (Paul & Ken) and that's something to admire. And they are still at it! Ken had a heart attack or stroke a couple of years ago, but he's back and okay afaik.

They are much better sounding live, because Paul (Ronnie if you like) don't do his cheesy "growl" so much on the stage.

Every old school metal concert I go to today, I see Ken Hammer in the crowd, haha, he can't give it up No wait, not in the crowd, he's sittin' at the BAR. Always!

Yeah, I didn't like the growl. I know what you mean, when you say "cheesy". That was the only thing I didn't like about that song. Still love hearing it, though.

ha ha, yeah I got Future World back in the day, liked it for the most part.

they were different, at least for us US folks.

Damn that bought back memories, i always loved that song, a co worker back in the High school days use to always play it, he was a keyboardist/singer in a local band.

I guess i am against the grain, because i liked the growl, i think it made the song. I say that is alot like today when a singer goes from clean to screaming, except back then no one screamed like they do today. But the point of the growl was to change the mood of the song from passive to agressive just like lyrics are.
