Sweet pic there Sully!! WOW!!I didn't mean to stir the dander here.It was just that I have hundreds of pics of Randy and either forgot this pic or just plain missed it,and it is the only one of him I had seen with a dean and was curious!
Dean might have just been telling the story for the sake of telling the story. I tell stories all the time about mistakes I made. It may have happened, it may not have. At this point, whether or not Randy played a Dean is probably not going to affect their sales one bit.
that was the story as I recall hearing it, that Dean wasn't Randy's and if I remember it was borrowed from a band on the same bill that they were playing on. Wheter it was his or not doesn't mean that he didnt like it and ask Dean to build him one... You know where Randy got the idea for the V bridge
Randy played a Strat too and Leo Fender's brother-in law's second cusin's adopted brother told my grandfathers aunt that Randy asked Fender to built him a guitar too.
The Dean was borrowed to play at the Whiskey in LA. Randy didn't own the Dean, but did apparently have interest in Dean making him a guitar. Guitar List
Randy also played a Harmony, a Cort and a Hondo. Look up the info on that... the truth is out there!
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
