It's hard to have a decent sound in the first CDs. In Europe there are no record label-made "metal" bands, so in the beggining a band has to start from the very bottom of the pit...So you can't expect a great sound, but if you give yourself the time and pay some attention, you may find some good surprises.

PS - What I was saying about the "paralympics" discussion was that people who like immortal will continue listening and those who don't like listen to other shit and stop bashing immortal. I wasn't attacking noone, but you seem to be Bill's lap dog, with all the respect for both of you...

Ok, I'm just now jumping into this thread, but after reading I must say... I got an Immortal bootleg VCD a week ago and well, they F***king RIP! It was live in Norway from 2003. Songs sounded even better than the albums. Also, there is not a bad cut from Sons of Northern Darkness, it is a perfect metal album.

Anyways, I have that box set, it's pretty good, but to be honest I was a bit dissappointed with it. The CD's it comes with are nice. The tapes are OK.

I should probably read the rest of this thread about after like about page 4 I think, it turned into random arguing and I lost interest.

If you like the raw shit, fine, but don't knock the polished stuff; you will only look envious, whether you are or not. On the other hand, once you reach a certain level of musicianship, then the raw stuff is just not as appealing anymore. That's
normal progression. Everyone has different comfort levels of ability though, so if you like only the raw stuff
then fine. To say a band isn't "true" anymore once they become better musicians
is just laughable.

I like dimmu very much, but I know that are bands with worst prodution that play alot better. It's a que$tion of money! If you read my post you'll see that i never knocked "polished" bands.I only tried to make you see that sometimes you find pearls in the mud... Immortal, for me has a very decent production...Abyss studios rule.

I hope all this discussion ends here.

I get it just fine. By "polished" I mean
musically polished, not necessarily just
a polished production, though those two usually go together.

I'm personally not concerned with Immortal to bash them specifically. I trust Bill's judgement of good music enough to not bother with them. There's too much good music out to bother with something that I'm sure won't fit my tastes. What I mainly came in here with,
if you read and comprehended the posts, is defending a friend against gratuitous insults from someone else. Bill even tried to make peace with the guy, but the guy came back with more insults. So my posts were in reply, defending my friend and insulting back to Mitch, then you decided to jump into it as well. You didn't really know or pay attention to what you were jumping into, did you? temperament before you came in was overheated, and you seemed to be falling in on the side of the guy who called my friend a douchebag and said he didn't know shit about metal. I can respect you expressing your opinion, but you can see the timing of your post, well, when flame
threads erupt here people are usually taking one side or the other. There are bands Bill and I disagree on too, but we do it respectfully and not by calling each other names. Again, in the time and context it seemed you were joining the flame war on the other side. Rereading your posts I see that's not the case, other than the lap dog crack. I can let that one go.
