I just got this cd yesterday. After listening to that opening, I was just standing there scratching my head thinking "how???" He's truly amazing.

he does that to play "crazy arpeggios" in his words.

Do you know the exact tuning?

That shit is so far beyond me in terms of skill and vision, that he might as well be of an alien race.

Paul is awesome....anf funny as hell!

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

Paul is simply amazing. Not just technically skilled beyond everything but also truly innovative. A true guitar god.

He uses three strings all tuned to E in octaves.

.....which is shown very, VERY neatly by the man himself, here:

PG explains how he came up with using only 3 strings for a song. Pretty neat concept.

I used to get pissed and want to quit after seeing/hearing guys like him play (especially when I found out how old he was when he did "Frenzy"). I find it pretty inspirational now. I know I'll never be at that level of playing, but his playing gives you a fresh look at coming up with some creative runs.

Gilbert is god. His new album destroys. His chops are waaaayyyy beyond normal. I would make man love to him if he asked me to.
