I think Jackson should take a serious run at Petrucci. Show some gumption and just go out and get him. He's perfect: respected, relatively high profile, at the peak of his career, and young. Frankly they should go after Malakian from System of a Down. They should have done it last year; another sensible candidate. Nickelback another very obvious candidate, although PRS is stiff competition. Nickelback does nothing for me musically, but this is a marketing question, not a musical one. Iron Maiden also fits the bill, as does Dimebag. They should have gone after Dime years ago, you'd think the guy would love Jackson. Iron Maiden will be touring and releasing new material this year, and will be generally visible = thousands will see them on tour, tours mean magazine shots, new CD's mean videos. Exposure exposure exposure. And it's all about gumption: GO GET 'EM. There is no other method.
Petrucci is really happy with Ibanez and the reason he left them was because they wouldn't make him a 7 string sig... I doubt Jackson would do that either.
Dime is so in love with his washburn deal he would be tough. I would like either of them though to be honest. No Chance at Vai

all the people who used to play them....Jake E Lee, Warren DiMartini, George Lynch, Vivian Campbell, Gary Moore, Alan Holdsworth ...wait...those were Charvel players...my bad
ah yer probably right, Jackson probably wouldn't make him a seven string sig, and dime might be tough, but those are two prime examples of the type of player who should be a Jackson endorsee, and it's easy to picture either one of them playing Jacksons, it's a good match. The reason they aren't is because these other companies were more agressive. They went out and got these guys, they didn't sit around with their finger in their blowhole waiting for the stars to align right. Ibanez and ESP have been aggressive and smart, and it has paid off. This is painful to type, but what Jackson really should have done many moons ago when they had a good shot at it, was wrap up Kirk Hammett. They couldn't have made a smarter move, and ESP had the business sense and the will to get it done. Hammett makes me barf, but you couldn't get more high profile. You could have a truckload of guys like Borislav Mitic, and it wouldn't make a sh*t of difference, which is why Ibanez and ESP don't waste their time on them. Ibanez wanted it more than anyone else in the late 80's, they went out and stole Vai and Satriani right out from under everyone elses nose, right when those two were the kings of the guitar playing universe, as far as popularity goes. Ibanez made it on the cover of a hundred magazines and god knows what else. When you think about all this, it gives you some perspective on how meek and naive Jackson really was as a guitar company.
Yes Andy is great! I don’t think he ever had a deal, did he? I know he plays BC Rich imports but did he have a deal? He does endorse some Canadian guitar co. The same one Glenn Drover does but Glen’s bro said that is pretty much just a favor to the guy. Can’t remember the name.
Originally posted by Dave: Now that Fender has Jackson they should get guys like Jeff Beck, Adrian Smith, Dave Murray and others who are playing Fenders now do a "Rock star" series or something. Just a limited run. I think that orange superstrat Jeff Beck had would be a big seller. It would be even better if they could persuade Vai but I'm just keeping it realistic.
Who else is playing Fender that used to play jackson/Charvel?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">[Edit] Of course I'm talking about a run of Jackson’s not Fenders. Just thought I'd clarify.
How about Thomas Youngblood from the band Kamelot? I know he has several Jacksons but the Kamelot site says he is an ESP endorsee, gotta get that fixed.

They might do a 7 string sig for Petrucci if given the chance. Rusty Cooley has a pseudo-signature 7 string so you couldn't be too certain on that one.
hey, i was in the grocery store the other night, and i thought of this thread and laughed to myself when i actually saw a young kid in a maiden shirt. what killed me was that he was flippin thru a maxim mag that was open to pix of christina aguilera.
