    listening to the new "the haunted" album right now

    up to song 5 right now, and it's really cool. great guitar tone, too...well, great production in general.
    WAY different from their previous efforts, though. much more diverse, complex, but also slower. lots of midtempo stuff, but still heavy as hell. they took their classic slayer influenced "dark" atmosphere and ran with it...a long way this album could almost be called progressive thrash, really cool

    hopefully the record stays on this high level all the way to the end.

      btw, in the making of dvd they say that they recorded most of the rhythm tracks with jensen's camo ESP explorer (emg loaded) through a - believe it or not - engl powerball.
      strange, i've yet to hear a powerball sound anything like that plus they've been using the 5150 for ages....i guess it's just for endorsement reasons

        It comes with a DVD?!? Sweet! They've been using the 5150 for ages, so it does sound weird about the Engl.

          yep...about 15 min making of (most of it is about the drums and vocals, though....), 2 videos off revolver (all against all and no compromise) as well as two live videos, 99 and abysmal. cool stuff!

              alright, after listening to the album for about one week straight i think it's definitely a good record, on par with their previous works - although different. if you liked my shadow, the last song off revolver, you'll love the new one.
              checkout tips would be the stain, the shifter (for the thrashy stuff), the drowning (groovy!), and the falling...dark and melodic sounding, but still the haunted...in one way or another

                I love The Haunted and I had heard lots of shit talk about this new album, but finally got a track on Knuckletracks 100 (free sampler CD that ships with Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles mag - best mag ever). Fucking cool. I will be ordering it on payday.
