Re: Eddie Van Halen leaving Peavey?

I kinda felt this way inside where I thought he was great but was nowhere right now, but thought his name might sell some guitars. If he's not doing anything now guess there's no reason to have his as an endorser. One question, who is Pat (name on JCF?) and why does Eddie hate Jackson?

Re: Eddie Van Halen leaving Peavey?

I honestly think that it's a shame that Eddie has alienated himself into obscurity. He's done nothing to keep himself relevant in the guitar community since "1984". He has actually done more to piss off the guitar community by filing frivilous lawsuits over a bunch of white and black lines on a red background...

Eddie is the reason I started playing as well, but there's only so many times I can listen to Van Halen 1 and 2 before I yearn for something fresh...

Re: Eddie Van Halen leaving Peavey?

Van Halen in any form is one of the few bands I don't change the station on on the radio in my car. Other over played stuff yes I change the station. The other two wood be Ratt and ZZTop.
Eddie has always been an icon in rock and a sa guitar player. He's one of the reasons I started playing too. ( if ya wanna call what i do playing)
Eddie has taken the electric guitar to new levels and directions than anyone could have imagined at the time. Although he may be dried up and prune like now and sickly and not have any talent left he still is a guitar hero to the world of rock and roll as we know it. As far as what he's done in the past or currently to defame his name his own doing due to lack of self control and motivation. He just got divorced and lost custody of his kids. Alex has back problems from a car accident. Dave and eddie will never play together again. Sammy has metioned he would if Eddie came to him with it. Mike is palying with Sammy on another project for a movie soundtrack. The Van Halen brothers are probably done with touring and the like. They've lost thier label due to contract breach. If Eddie doesn;t do anything in the next couple of years Peavey would probably drop him anyway. What good is a guitar endorsement if he's not playing.
It's like being a retired NASCAR driver with an endorsement by Penzoil. whats the point?
If Peavey does drop Eddie or vise versa that's up to them. Yes Eddie's name alone will sell more guitars then any other type of advertising can.
As for why Eddie hates Jackson that's a good question. Hey Pat what happened? Enquiering minds want to know!

I doubt that Eddie will loose his endorsement for lack of playing. His name will sell guitars if he's playing or not.

It's a shame that EVH has become an incoherent, shambling, wasted shadow of his former glory. But then again, that's never done Ozzy any harm!

Would a Father give up his son? The Wolfgang is a namesake.. I doubt he'd clip the endorsement.

Keith Richards still plays cause he can...the Stones have been milking that "icon" thing and will continue milking that for a long time to come, It's been their bread and butter.

Eddie sells guitars cause he can...it's his bread and butter. I think he'd be foolish not to continue milking that cow for some time to come.

Eddie and Peavey can sell 5150s and Wolfgangs as long as Gibson will keep selling Les Pauls. He's made his name and it will outlast our lifetimes.

I wasn't flaming Ed, but his appearance and actions at NAMM were not good-times
partying rockstar level. They were "I'm
going downhill fast" level. He needs rehab for his own good, and possibly to live period. He can probably keep his deal with Peavey, but if they can't depend on him to make appearances sober,
they might cut that part out and lower the money proportionally. Lets hope Ed
isn't drunk when he reads that term, or he might stupidly cancel the deal himself
in his drunken rage. The guy is an icon
but right now he needs help. WE should
hope that he gets it before his liver explodes.

As long as Ed is doing music.. I think he'll be drinking and drowning his sorrows, sad to say.

As long as there is someone to supply his habit... it's pretty tough to kick something as socially available as alcohol.

I give the guy a break.. he's been battling cancer.. that's no small feat for either mind or body. He needs to have somebody drop him off on a tiny remote island with a shelter & weekly supply of food dropped off so he can dry out.

i felt bad about his cancer, too...

until i saw pix of him at a golf outing after he was in remission. i was dumbfounded to see him smoking.

Yeah, who knows...anyone see a doctors report? The way Hollywood/LA is... it could be a bunch of BS..altho that would be going to great, great lengths to mask other ther other BS in his life.

I do not know. I agree, seems if you were diagnosed with cancer, the first thing would cut out of your life is the most obvious source.
Hard to feel sorry for someone who seems to be doing it to themselves.. but that happens with millions everyday in one way, shape, or form.

As long as he keeps up with that, he won't be making any comebacks like Demi did.
