  • Saw Def Leppard/Journey Tonight in Jacksonville

Super show, Neal Schon is God. Did the "Star Spangled Banner" to open the show, totally ripped, all in free form. Played all the great tunes, I love the solos on "Faithfully", that fast run right at the end gets me every time.

Phil Collen kicked ass. Used PC-1's all night (except for a Bad Finger remake, had a lucite guitar, not sure what that was) until the last two songs and brought out the Bela Lugosi "Dracula" glow in the dark. It was a bolt on Dinky! Must be a later version of his original Soloist, huh?

Viv played Les Pauls most of the night, sounded great. Nice to see an 80's rock band still laying it down, wasn't a sold out show, but very packed...
    "Got a crazy feeling I don't understand,
    Gotta get away from here.
Feelin' like I shoulda kept my feet on the ground
Waitin' for the sun to appear..."

I saw them when they were here in PHX a few months back. Killer show by both bands.
"Bela" is a Dinky... he never had a Soloist with that graphic.
    That is the original.

Didn't the original one have a Kahler? Either he swapped it for a Floyd on the same guitar or he had another one made.

Nope... it's always had a Floyd.
There were only two made... Phil has the original and Brooks had one made later. It is owned by and insurance company now as it was damaged in transit to Brooks.

I saw that tour in late summer. Great one. Schon is amazing. DefLep was very good, but their sound was muddy.

I wish I could have seen that show!

Who was on vocal for Journey? Steve Perry? I love that band. Schon is incredible. Now I have the solo for City of the Angels in my head.... he's the master. I will never get to see them, buhuuu

            Living in Europe schucks sometimes...

Hmm, pretty sure in the video for "Animal" he's playing one with a Kahler. I'll check it out.

Cool Show..I have always loved the Leppards..RIP Steamin Steve Clark

Viv is a good choice for a replacement, but I personally like the older days of Leppard..After Pete Willis of course.. The Terror Twins ROCK!

I stand corrected... It had a Kahler at one time.
I was less than 10 feet away from it on the Adrenalize tour and I swear it had a Floyd. I could have grabbed it... I was that close to it.

Well, the Leps are my favorite band. Plus I used to use Kahlers on my Jacksons, so I remember thinking why Phil suddenly switched to Floyds. I knew I was right!

I just played that guitar the other night

It's funny I saw this thread cause I had just played Phil's "Bela" guitar the other night before the concert. I can tell you for sure that it had a kahler on it at one point and has since been modified to fit an original floyd. It is a very cool guitar and has the original paint and is actually in decent shape considering the tour miles that are on it and also the fact that Phil plays pretty rough with some heavy hands. He is a pretty amazing guy! He works out ALL the time and is in great shape - and is a hell of a nice guy to boot!
The concert was great and Viv also played very well. By the way, don't be surprised if you see some of his old strat heads dragged out in the not too distant future.....

Viv's old strat heads or Phil's old strat heads?
