• saw MAIDEN last night

holy crap those guys still ROCK. funny thing was except for "Revalations" where Arian used a LP custom it was all strats.
Dave used the same off white strat the entire show
Adrian an Off white strat , a burst strat & an LP for one song
& the other guy...lol. off white strat & a black one.

BUT those guys still got it sounded awesome.

& was that craig goldie playing with dio. who ever it was he was great nailed all the old stuff.

I'll be seeing the same show next Saturday in Montreal.Sounds like it will be a good one. For some reason I think Maiden are all endorsees for Fender now, including Smith. There is a Maiden Strat that Fender makes, but it's not really a signature guitar. Funny how everone likes Adrian Smith over Dave. I was always the same. I never really cared for Murray's legato stuff much. I saw Maiden for Powerslave and Seventh Son tours.

Saw the Somewhere in time tour and they blew.
Just terrible. Worst concert I've ever seen.

I saw the Somewhere in Time tour in Rochester, NY and thought they were awesome, one of the BEST shows I've ever seen.

Going to the show in Pittsburg on Aug. 8th and looking forward to it.

Hey jamie, do you remember what most of their setlist consisted of? Older vs. Newer tunes? I saw them in Buffalo, NY on the Brave New World tour and was a bit dissapointed that they didn't play as much old classic Maiden as I had hoped for.

Well...if Maiden ever did do a bad show ....I'm sure they will redeem themselves to any of those non believers ...

....they are very strong ...NOW!!!!!

Their '86 "somewhere.." was a bit of a stretch for maiden and they started to loose their fan base at that time .....In hindsight it was a GREAT album!!!

Preist did the same thing ...Ram it Down SUCKED so I didn't buy Painkiller when it came out just like a lot of people didn't .....boy were we wrong......Painkiller was their best !!

Wendell:
They're probably playing the same setlist as they were playing over here in Europe... I posted about it when I saw them, but people cared more about Metallica.

Thanks Baum83, I remember reading that thread but I couldn't remember how the setlist went. If Maiden plays a similar setlist in Pittsburg, it should be an excellent night. Not to mention Dio & Motorhead will also be playing on the same bill.

Re: saw MAIDEN last night

I just wanna say that I have always liked maiden.
They just sucked live.
Dickenson sounded like a fn teenaged parrot his voice was squaking/cracking that bad.
The set/stage was pretty lame. that "laser gun" was just plain stupid.
The only time anyone got out of their seats is when 20' tall Eddie came out and had a run in with Dickinson and said gay ray gun.
I was hoping Eddie would win.
We were all pissed that we blew $15.00 on that concert.

Re: saw MAIDEN last night

I saw Maiden on the Piece of Mind Tour, They were awesome, and I swear that was the loudest concert I have ever been too.

I saw them on the Somewhere in Time tour also and was SO dissapointed. They didn't play one song from Piece of Mind, not even the Trooper! I was pissed. I was there from start to finish so I didn't miss anything either.

And just for the record, I think Craig Goldy sucks in Dio! I have the videos with him on it and he is no Vivian Campbell!
Madness Reigns......... In the Hall of the Mountain King!

Re: saw MAIDEN last night

I originally saw Maiden on their killers tour when they opened for Judas Priest back when Paul Dianno sang for them. They rocked big time. Saw them om piece of mind tour still good... somewhere in time was ok but am anticipating the maiden tour coming to the southeast....particularly florida. Anyone have any info about that? Anyways I expect that they will kick some serious tail.

Cool Jamie...I'll be catching them at the Garden Wednesday night. It'll be the first time I've EVER seen them....very much looking forward to it.

BTW...I believe Goldy is touring w/ Dio again...

Re: saw MAIDEN last night

Saw them last week in Philly (well, Camden NJ, actually) and they definately kicked ass Then again, I've seen the Killers(w/Dianno),# of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave,Somewhere in Time ,Seventh Son, Ed Hunter, and BNW tours, so I may be a little biased. Their set list has been cut by about 4 songs since they were in Europe. Motorhead goes on @7:30 (loud and noisy, but then again, what do you expect from them?)and plays untill 8 or so. Killed by Death, Ace of Spades, Metropolis and Overkill among others. Dio comes on @ 8:30and plays for about an hour. His vocals were really strong, and he played stuff from throughout his career, not just Dio tunes.Maiden come on around 10 and play for a little over 90 mins. I thought the whole show was awesome, and was supposed to go to MSG Wed. until my schedule at work was changed. Nothing like eating $100 worth of tix plus service charges
