I like Matt better, so much more power in his vocals. Owens is good but it sounds like he is just hitting notes. Matt pushed the notes and it fit so well with the music. There is no bass end to Owen's voice, just like someone is stepping on his balls the whole time. I like Owens vocals, but it sounds wierd with IEs music. We already have one Judas Priest. I want this cd so I can make a better judgment. The music on the clips sounds awesome though. Just take some getting used to the vocals for me.

Well, you might argue that we already have one Iron Maiden, thus we don't need Iced Earth! I don't agree with that, but you get the point.

Matt left partly because IE didn't make a decent living, because they are obscure at 30,000 sales per record. T.O. may raise their profile enough to sell 100,000 copies and get more and better gigs - the difference between survival and oblivion for IE at this point, I believe.

You can't make Matt come back, so you get the best guy who can also do the best for the band. Of course, you can show your gratitude to Schaffer for keeping the band going by buying the CD, and being open to the new sound. Don't forget, either, that Tim Owens went in and quickly recorded songs that Matt had months to do, and apparently had real problems with. They were under the gun to get this music out, with a 6-month delay caused by Matt quitting to become an aspiring Homeland Security bean counter. Not blaming Matt; with a family to support, a band gig that won't pay the bills became a too-costly hobby for him. He needs to acheive security for his family. Jon and Tim, together,
may be able to pull enough fans so IE can support THEIR families, but Matt Barlow didn't have that ability, whatever his singing abilities are.

There's probably someone out there who thinks the departure of John Rutsey ruined Rush! [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I agree with you Lerx. Just a matter of personal opinion on the voice to me. I know Owens will help them achieve more popularity (hopefully). Iced Earth needs the credit and money they deserve. I will buy the new album FOR SURE. I love Iced Earth. I liked the first two samples. Red Baron just sounded...wierd to me. The music was way cool though. I hope they keep Owens in the hope that he will adjust to IE and make for a better fit. Even Jon says Matt's first IE album he wasn't real great. I didn't exactly mean for it to sound like I was talking down on Ripper. I can't wait for the new album.I am really anxious to hear what it sounds like in its entirety

Barlow has a pretty good voice and does sound like Paul Stanley at times, but he's just not as good as Paul or Tim. Where Rob Halford had all highs or lows in his voice, Tim had much more midrange and sounded like a cross between Halford and Eric Adams from Manowar. Tim definitely will be the right choice for IE. Aymar would of fit IE ...like a glove..as a matter of fact I was really trying to push our singer to audition or contact IE ...he is that good and grew up and knows Timmy O very well.!!!

As a matter of fact Winters Bane wanted Ty after Timmy left...now they have that dude from Powergod and is putting out a new album..

What’s all this about Pantera? I though it was done and New Found Power was the band now?

Did they consider Tim and want to put Pantera back together.

I can’t imagine Tim doing the Phil singing style. That would be a waste of talent. CFH was good but, after that Phil sounded like sh!t IMO.

Well Tim did mention to me some time ago that he and Dime were talking about working together and they are fans of each other...and became friends..

When Pantera broke up ..I thought it would be a matter of seconds before I saw that materialize ...I guess not ..

Pantera would be a major Paycheck!! ....they could get on any Bill including that stupid Ozzfest and the like (Major high profile) Guitar World and such... and the Cleaner vox would make the band that more accessible for promotions / listeners and radio in general.....makes sense ....and Tim can definately handle their classic Material without a doubt....
