• Fear Factory and Jackson!!

I was just on FF's site and about fell out of my chair when I saw Jackson guitars at the top of their sponsor list.

For those of you who keep up with them, I think they are pushing on with Burton, Raymond, and Christian on guitar. Not sure what Dino is doing. Anyway check out this link and scroll down, on the left side of the screen is Christian with a couple Jacksons 7 strings. ...I just can't believe this, good for them!

Dino is a friend of mine. He is playing in Asesino now with Juan Brujo from Brujeria on vox, Tony from Static X on bass and Emilio from Sadistic Intent/Engrave on drums. They are all really cool dudes and I go to their BBQ's every now and then. Dino and I used to fight over the carne asada, but now I'm vegetarian, so it's all his.

Yeah, FF broke up, then decided to get back together and didn't want Dino anymore. I read that in part of an interview with Dino some months back, and he was a little upset but it seems he's over it and getting on with his life and other bands.
I met Dino at Ozzfest in '99 here in NJ, he was walking around with these two hot chics and then they all sat in front of me in some empty seats not too far from the main stage. He was a real cool guy!!

Fear Factory's lose, I guess.

Those Jackson 7 strings are pretty cool looking.

There's also a photo of Christian in the new Jackson catalogue, holding a DKMGT; you can only see the headstock.

btw, I FINALLY got a catalogue at a local guitar shop today, yay!
(that's why I noticed it just today as well.)

Ace, Ive read it in several places that Shane EMbury of Napalm Death is now the bass player in Brujeria, not Tony from Static X...

Can anyone tell what he did to the base of those 7 string headstocks? Looks like a strip of tape or something where the truss rod cover would be. Whatever it is looks kinda cool.

That tape like thing does look kinda cool.

When I first looked at those guitars I thought they were 8 strings or something. The headstocks are frikkin huge.

Re: Fear Factory and Jackson!!

That's a piece of foam under the strings right past the nut. It dampens any residual string reverb to really tighten up those quick stops that FF does. Dino also used that trick.

If you have a tune-o-matic, don't forget to put a strip behind that as well.

Re: Fear Factory and Jackson!!

Thats a pretty cool idea, since the low strings are pretty long and resonant on a reverse headstock jackson.

The string length from the TOM to the stop tail bar is a really short distant though. Probably not worth worrying about. I can't really say though, don't own any TOM equipped guitars, yet.
