I saw them last year in Cupertino and it was a great show. Definitely going to see them again.

Yes!! I saw them last year here in Maryland, it was a fantastic show. Alex Skolnick and Chris Caffery, all the great vocalists and the pianist, the violinists, wow, it was so great. Some noisy obnoxious woman and her pals were chatting like hyenas behind me; it was a good damn thing they shut up before the show. I hung out after the show, and the techs finally came over and asked what they could do for me, and I asked if they had anything I could have, and so the tech working on Chris' guitar for the next show tossed a pick to me, hell yes. And I was credited as being a nice, patient fan, not one who *****ed at you to give them something. [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] I'm getting front row this year...thanks a bunch for the news!

I think one of the keyboard players on the east tour was Robert Kinkle...

We had the distinction of Al and Jane Pitrelli.

what type of crowd is it? I'd love to take my 8yr and 9yr old sons to see them so they can see them perform "Christmas Eve/ Carol of the bells" that their dad (thats me) spent many hours recording/mixing last December [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

The last couple of years it is a mixed crowd. You'll see all walks of life. Metalheads, lawyers, mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, kids... I twas really weird... I wore a shirt and a tie and all the friends I met up with there were wearing jeans and rock shirts...

The crowd is very safe if that's what you are asking. And WAY more conservative that I expected.
Probably THE most well-behaved crowd I've ever seen at a concert in SoCal. From what I saw, pretty much every age group was well represented.

Re who's playing TSO East... Chris Caffery is of course still there, but Alex Skolnick has decided to not tour with TSO this year to put more time into his Trio...

Chris posts on his message board a couple of times a week and keeps everyone up-to-date on what's going on with Savatage/TSO and his solo stuff... He also has an "Ask Chris" section where you can email him and he will post the answers there...

I love the TSO stuff. I put together a TSO Tibute band last year to be ready for this year. We just did our first show this past weekend and got a great response with it. We're doing a combination of TSO, Gary Hoey and some of our own renditions of Christmas classics. That is some of the hardest material that I've ever tried to learn and play but it is also some of the most rewarding! I'm hopeing that we all can take a band trip and see the real deal live this year. I was glad to hear some reviews from past shows. I always wondered who played which coast. Anyone know who's replacing Alex this year?
