You tell me? Drugs...probably. And that sort of thing happened to a ton of BCRs in the eighties. It was just a trend - people didn't like seeing the wood and wanted flashy/solid colours. Heck, even the Factory would repaint Koa guitars if someone wanted a guitar in a certain colour and they didn't have enough on hand. Ask me how I know this.

If you look closely at the guitar, you can see that he even added a behind-the-nut lock and a Schaller fine-tuner bridge. Probably one of the reasons he chose to go with the Kahler fixed bridge on the KV.

I think he himself noticed how intelligent he is about 1988-1990.Before that,I'm sure I would be disturbed If I saw him on the street as a regular fella.He was a regular junkie guy.He improved his personality really much.

All the Metallica members are in worse condition than they used to be(I'm not talking financial-wise)except Dave.He's just shown so much personal progression.He's stronger than ever now.
