OK, I hate Trivium

I saw them support Iron Maiden in Manchester, UK on Thursday. To be honest, it's difficult to say who sucked the most. Trivium were playing sloppy, metal by numbers with an awful fizzy sound, and Iron Maiden were playing tight, metal by numbers with, unfortunately for me, a crystal clear sound. Terrible, terrible...

Special-K, i am like you, i use to stick up all the time on this board but just gave up. I listen to everything and anything, from 50's, 60's, 70's, grew up in the 80's and well you get my point, but now I am mostly into rock/Indie, EMO/Screamo. Also Like you said, if i hear a pop song or a rap song i like i am not afraid to admit it.

However, You have to many people on this board with a one thought process, if it is not the music I like it sucks. Honestly sometimes it is like i am back in high school dealing with the 13 year old metal heads, and I have thought of leaving the board just because it really does piss me off sometimes.

But the knowledge I learn in other area's from the people on the board out weight there negativity towards bands they dont like so i just learned to put up and shut up.

Just keep your attitude and do not worry about what people on this board think about bands you like, after all everyone is entitled to there opinion no matter how stupid it may be.

People should learn to be more constructive in their critizism. If I like a band and another guy (or girl for that matter) say "They suck" I'll like to know what it is they don't like about that band. If they stil can't come up eith anything better than "just because" then I'll say we've got a problem

Sure I don`t like some genres of music...
But here and there, there are some good songs...
But in rap...noone at this time...
I mostly listen to Black Metal and Alternative now...
Mostly Darkthrone,Nargaroth, Taake and Burzum
(mostly these in Black Metal) but in alternative
Muse, Placebo, White Stripes and many others
too much to count...but also love some other stuff
like Children Of Bodom...I listen to them a lot...
I even like some metalcore bands like
Bullet For My Valentine and As I Lay Dying
(only the Frail Words Collapse LP)...
But stuff like Rap and some kiddy pop, sorry
I can`t stand those...

But, if I would like a song or two I would have no shame to
admit it...

So peeps that think they must say that a band sucks just because

I can certainly think of more bands to whine and complain about than Trivium..

I think they're very GOOD players..not great but GOOD..

I think they should be on GW covers before the likes of Tom Morello, Wes Borland, Tremonti, Kid Rock and all those NU / RAP fuckers I could destroy in a fucking second!

You don't hear me complain..my boy Jeff Loomis never been on a GW cover..not yet..he will be eventually IMO..I'm hoping..fuck it..it's a popularity contest, whatever is promoted heavily on headbangers ball gets on those covers..but at least these guys can actually play...after 15 years of absolutely NO shred in the mainstream and now we finally got it..and you complain..WTF???!!!

Screamo, Emo..watered down AT The Gates or Metallica..who gives a fuck..at least there is interest in virtuocity again..and kid's care about quality guitars, amps and skill again ..what we all missed and hold very dear..but yet you complain..like a little bitch with a skinned knee..

I know Jeff had his own column for a while but he he felt gay because he doesn't know or apply theory to what he writes..he just "goes for it"..his words

He said he had to learn basic theory just to try to explain what he's doing..but why..fuggit??

What he's doing works..just like Van Halen..everyone wants to put what VH did in tab..No tab in the world is going to make you sound like VH..it was from his imagination and his heart..you can't duplicate that. It'll get you in the "ballbark" , if your hearts in it and that's what you want to do..

Most tabs are wrong anyway..unless the artist actually wrote it himself.

I don't care how much I love a certain piece of music, I'd much rather invest my time creating a song/solo than to copy one..unless you're in a cover gig.

I can cover just about anything on bass without tabs..guitar is more elaborate, I guess tabs can come in handy.

Well, this is off topic..so my point is. After 15+ years of no cool guitars or solo in popular music. I'm thankful that it is back..I know it was Jeff's and Nevermore's goal to bring back the guitar solo..but honestly, I don't care who carries the torch..as long as it's back!!

No, I really don't care for the whole Emo/Screamo stuff..but I'll take this stuff anyday over that wannabe ghetto bullshit. I'm just happy kids are PLAYING instruments and creating real music that involves actual skill again..intead of making fart noises in their hand and scratching records..wearing baggy shit with their hat on backwards.

I'm glad that kids have more of a option and choice to make instead of all pretending to be black to fit in..

Rap is still here and that's cool..knock yourself out with that shit..it wasn't written for me with me in mind..so I certainly can't relate to it..this Emo stuff gives suburban kids their own Identity instead of being spoonfed the ghetto value sytem and all its mannerisms..

Also anything mainstream/popular will be trendy and "cookie cutter"..ever since the 50's,60's,70s,80's and 90's..look at Kiss and Disco..nothing has changed.
