Boys, I was listening to Van Halen today..it's been a long time..

Maybe because they were inducted into the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame, and always thought it was long overdue. NO, mention of them on any local news, just as I thought!!

Man, I love "light up the sky"..that still gives me chills!!

My favorite VH tune to play, and we had to drop it from the set list to make room for the "hits"..but it paid well.

Everyone here has heard my Van Halen Trib band from over 10 years ago..right??

VH is the reason I'm talking right here..right now.

BTW..NEVER say a player "sucks" 'till you can show you can smoke 'em!!

If it wasn't for Ed ..alot of players you love wouldn't be here..give him that much, he truly earned it!

    Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

Ain't it the truth, if it wasn't for Eddie I may never have switched to a Strat from a Les Paul.
Now I feel naked without a floyd on my guitar.
he may not be what he once was but his contributions to rock/metal/shred cannot be argued. He opened the door for many of us
and showed us the future of guitar playing.
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

remember, his contribution to rock/metal/shred is just a small part he did.
he was a huge influence for almost every mainstream pop and contemporary jazz artist durning the 80's

When you think about take away the ones that wouldn't be here without the VH influence and the place would be pretty empty, if even here

Anyone find it odd that Eddie never made a solo album? I know Van Halen is like his solo band since he is the star, but I figured he would of did something as a solo kind of thing, out of the typical band context if that makes sense.

Bill - I know you've posted those 100 times but for whatever reason I never had a chance to listen to them. It's slow right now at work so I just did and they sounded great, even through the crappy built-in speaker on my PC. Is it cool if I PM you with some questions about your VH tribute band? I'm thinking about maybe getting one together, I don't think there is one in Atlanta. Thanks, John.

Thanks Bro..we were voted number#1 in the country per "The Insider" magazine..which landed my singer a audtion for Van Halen..verdict "sounds too much like Dave"

Also Dave was going to do a show with us in '97 after veiwing a home vid..but that fell by the wayside, He did his DLR w/John 5 in '98 which flopped..we broke up due to our jobs and my wife's health. So he did it with the Atomic Punks years later on tour with Sammy..they're good, but we were definitely better!

I have a demo, and a home vid ouf our "show"..we went all out..we looked liked them and everything..it was a hit. I must make copies of that show and send some out to you guys.

Cleveland John has the vid..my bass solo is on there, it's was our 2nd show...and I was trashed!

Okay, I REALLY thought the pic in this thread was a photoshop joke. Then I go to my mailbox and see the new Guitar World has arrived. I CANNOT believe that is for real. I have to say that is the most disturbing cover pic I think I've seen on Guitar World. I've been a subscriber for 11 years now.

Interestingly, the first GW I ever bought was the one where EVH was on the cover around the Balance album. That was a cool issue.
