      Lead tone - Lynch
      Rhythm - Darkane

      I also love the tone of the lead breaks and solo in the In Flames song December Flower.

        I've been really digging the tone on Morbid Angel's Heretic lately.

          Since it's supposed to be 3 or less:

          Hendrix - especially on Band of Gypsies;
          Dave Murray - any and all, especially his
          soloing tone!
          Van Halen - especially on I, II, & 1984.

          Kind of hard to leave out:
          Kirk & Pepper - Down I & II;
          Iommi - anything with Ozzy or Dio;
          Vai - especially on Passion & Warfare;
          David Gilmour - any and all;
          Dave Navarro - with Red Hot Chilis.

              -Robin Trower - all and any
              -Richie Blackmore - "Made in Japan" & "Slave & Master"
              -Adrian Smith esp. on Bruce Dickinson solo projects as well as his Psycho Motel project
              -Dave Murray - solo tones are at it's best the last two albums
              -Randy R. his live tone on the "Tribute" album absolutely sizzles.
              -Petrucci - all and any

                        Neal Schon (always liked his tone, even back when he played with Santana)
                        EVH (Especially on van halen 1)
                        David Gilmour (on just about everything he's done)

                            Definately Gary moore on still got the blues... My dad showed me that song when i was 10 or 11, and those first 4 notes of the opening solo is what made me want to play. And also Zakk wylde has an awesome tone along with Neal Schon.

                              Jon Shaffer of Iced Earth on Alive in Athens. Best live tone I've ever heard.
