its hard for me to admit it..but my all time favorite guitar tone comes from solid state.
soilwork, a predator's portrait especially. i think it more has to do with stellar production but as far as how the guitar sounds, nothing tops that album as far as i'm concerned. they're tuned all the way down to b yet still get clear punchy definition to their chording, and of course the really awesome lead tone they're known for.

the third one is kinda hard to pick...i'm not sure whether jeff hanneman's tone on war at the warfield or james hetfields tone on live shit (seattle) is the better one....so i say fuck it all and pick exodus - tempo of the damned as my third one...lol
