• The Forgotten Bands

I was goin thru some of my old "n" dusty cds and i stumper on some Warrent and White Lion Cds.

It seems like these two 80s bands are almost forgotten by people. Is it because they don't have any SUPER guitarist or singers?

And i'm sure there are alot more forgotten bands like these two bands.

So list the 80s bands that you reckon are good yet forgotten by the public.

We haven't forgotten about Warrant and White Lion - some of us were baggin on them in another thread just a few moments ago

Personally, I hated them both. Mike Tramp was a whiney little sissy like Don Dorken, and Warrant were competing too hard with Poison - to see who could suck the worst.
Vito Bratta was ok, but he was hyped far too much (everyone too eager for a "Van Halen Jr" - he even resembled Ed in some pics).

White Lion... I can't even name a song they did.

I liked that one song Warrant did "Uncle Tom's Cabin." But I was like... 7 at the time. I have an excuse. I was stupid.

Well, I guess I'll be the party pooper here on the topic of Vito Bratta. The solo on Little Fighter was pure poetry. It's one of my favorite solos of all time. Sure, he tapped the neck some, but I just can't see EVH playing either that or the Wait solo. Just my $0.02 American.

First I just wanna mention Danger Danger. Screw it! is one of my favorite albums, and Andy is one damn talented guitarplayer. There ain´t no business like monkey business...

Other bands from the mid/late 80s...some are VERY forgotten and some are just not famous anymore:
Winger
Vixen
Nitro
Tuff
Enuff z´nuff
Britny Fox
Cinderella
Alien
Bang Tango
Autograph
Mr.Big
Faster pussycat
Extreme

...and the list goes on and on I actually have albums of every single band mentioned in this topic, with just one or two exceptions...some are just terrible, but some are extremely good.

Re: The Forgotten Bands

Leatherwolf...I just bought the reissue CD of "Street Ready"...that CD rips! Saigon Kick...wow, what can I say? Those guys were the prototype for my band. I met Jason and a local guitar shop in Tampa when they were recording "Water". I was playing a riff from "The Lizard" and he came over and started talking to me. We sat and jammed for a minute on some Rivera amps and Hamer USA guitars (which he said he hated...ESP guys!). He was cool. Told me all about some new Rivera gear he got from Paul Rivera to do the album with. I was very psyched!!

A couple of years later when Saigon Kick got back together (minus Jason - they had the guitarist from SLAUGHTER) my singer and I were hanging at the bar when Matt Kramer came up. We bought him some drinks and shot the breeze...he was pretty far out of his head. When my singer asked him if they were getting Jason back, Matt got pissed and said not to bring that up. He was kind of a dick after that. Then we went to Orlando to see them again, and Matt did a stage dive and kicked me in the fucking eye!! He broke my glasses and gave me a mega shiner. All a coincedence though.

Damn, I wish those guys would get back together...

Oh yeah, don't forget about Skid Row. Their latest record rips...even with out Bas.
GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Armoured Saint
Badlands - premier stripped down, kick@ss hard rock
Bullet Boys - cool DLR knockoff
Blue Murder - John Sykes is the ultimate rock star
Cinderella - great hard rock vocals
Crimson Glory - prog before prog was cool
Cry of Love - totally unknown, but a great band
The Cult - very high "cool" factor
David Lee Roth - DLR, Vai & Sheehan: please reunite!
Dirty Looks - singer does a perfect Bon Scott
Extreme
Exodus - check out "Cajun Hell"
Faster Pussycat
Fastway - fantastic Zep sound
Fates Warning
Flotsam & Jetsam
Hanoi Rocks
Lizzie Borden - dont' laugh, they were good
Racer X
Ratt - unique sound
Riot - check out Swords & Tequila
Savatage
Skid Row - good band, fantastic singer
Stryper - Soldiers Under Command
Tesla
TNT - incredible solos
Trouble - cool, downtuned riffage
Vandenberg
White Lion - Vito Bratta kicked ass. If he emulated EVH to some extent, good! Who better to copy? "Wait" in particular is a fantastic song, both in terms of the riffs and the very melodic solo.

If you do nothing else, at least check out Badlands. They are/were truly great.
