  • Jackson spotted in Sound Barrier video

On VH1 Classic the other day they played a Sound Barrier video. Pretty funny stuff. We're gonna rock without the roll!!!

Anyways, the guitarist had a starbody guitar with some sort of graphics...might have been stickers. It had an Explorer like headstock and Jackson logo. The Jackson logo was the old school kind like on Randy Rhoads' guitars.

The guy in Sound Barrier is Spacey T. He and his guitar are featured in the Mondo Jackson Ad. That guitar is strat shaped, with 22 frets, vintage trem and the aforementioned Explorer headstock. If I'm not mistaken, it is also has a set in neck, not a neck through. I think that you might have fused 2 videos, in your recollection of guitars. That particular episode of Metal Mania had the Sound Barrier vid with Spacey T and his strat shaped Jackson, and there was also this other band (the name escapes me right now, damnit!) that featured a black guitar player/singer playing a Charvel star. That guitar is black with white binding and some sort of skull graphic or stickers. Not a whole lot of black metal players out there, back in those days, at any rate.

Thanks a bunch, Chuck. That was bugging the hell out of me, not being able to remember the name of that band! I also agree, that song and vid were way cheesy! I read somewhere that Sound Barrier was actually quite talented, but the record company had no idea how to market an all black metal band. Guess they had it figured out by the time Living Colour came out!? I always hated Living Colour, and I still think that Vernon Reid is about as talented as Kirk Hammet (read: not at all).
