Regardless of what he's done with his personal life, he's still one of the reasons we play guitar the way we do today, the reason we have superstrats, the reason we got flipped on our ear the first time we heard "Eruption" and went "WTF! I suck!!!!", etc...I feel sorry for him as he's obviously battling some personal demons. I'd hate to have my personal life under the scrutiny of already critical guitar players on an internet messageboard. Truth is, he's probably hurting on some level and covering it with alcohol and drug addiction.
Anyway...I hope he gets better, puts out some killer music and finds some peace in life, regardless of what I think of his habits. He still rocks and is still one of the main reasons I even picked up the guitar
Did I say that? No. But to make a blanket statement about how you KNOW Eddie is better than anyone else, here? Well, that's just ridiculous. There will ALWAYS be someone better, coming along, and, unless someone HAS actually heard every one here, they shouldn't make such statements.
I can make any such statement I want. Also, I'm most likely right. The odds are certainly in my favor. I'm sure there are guys here that can copy Eddie. Play faster than Eddie. Know more theory than Eddie.
But...
To be better than Eddie you've got to set the world on mother fuckin' fire like he did. You've got to inspire people like that. You've got to make the guitar sound like nobody has ever made it sound before. You've got to make people shit there pants when you play.
Guys like that just don't come along very often. Truly unique and mind blowing guitarists like Van Halen, Gatton, Vai, Beck, Django, Les Paul, etc. are incredibly rare.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

Wow, great friggin' post and very well stated. Thank you, Tim. I can't wait 'till school's out for racerx2k to retort.
RacerX tunes-lol The guitar playing is out of sight but it wouldn't be cranking in my car pulling up to a light on Pacific coast Highway, next thing you know youlook next to you at some twinkies and they're puking and like"later dude"-lol
