  • Dead Musicians Band

On just about every forum with an artist's section that I belong to, I ask this question...

If you could make a band out of any dead musicians, who would be in it?

    Mine would be:

Chuck Schuldiner ( Death)-Guitars and Vocals
    Dimebag Darrell (Pantera)-Guitar
    Cliff Burton (Metallica)- Bass
    John Bonham (Zeppelin)- Drums

and possibly Layne Staley (AIC) and Hendrix making some guest appearances...

    pretty brutal.

that'd be a good metal band although i don't see bonham as a good fit with those guys.

john lennon, george harrison, john bonham, and john entwistle would be a kick ass rock band.

layne staley and hendrix would be the foundation of something great.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

as far as Bonham, I think he'd be able to fit in anywhere he was told to play, so I think he woul be just as good as anyone for it. besides, I don't know any metal drummers that are that good and dead...

Neither Moon not Bonham could do that type of Metal. They were great at what they did, because they did what they were great at.

Eric Carr had the kit, but did he have the INTEREST in playing the type of Metal he's being put in with.

And you do not "tell" Bonham what to play - you either fall in his groove or he falls in yours. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Don't insult the man's memory by degrading him to the level of Studio Drummer that way.

What about dude from Megadeth? Gar whatever? He could play that stuff.

Bonzo could play practically anything, the question is if he wanted to do everthing, heavy metal wasn't his thing as he said. He sounded like jazz/funk/motown drummer with unbeliveable power. He learned from all those legendary groove guys...Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Joseph Modeliste etc. but he did so much hard work in his farm that he had so much strenght and stamina. 30 minute solos and whatnot and with the chops of pro jazz drummer.

btw. a couple of years ago our most popular TV station showed The Song Remains The Same, there were only a couple of commericals durning that movie....one of the commercials was in the middle of Bonzo's drum solo. The bros. from my last band were watching it, their dad who is a very respected guitarist here got so pissed that he called to the TV station's director and wanted the person who put the commerical on durning Bonzo's solo fired

                            I'd say, let's do a poll!

Anyway, my pick for the ultimate rock band:

Jimi and SRV on guitar, John E. on bass, John B. on drums, Bon Scott and Janis Joplin on vocals.

                            ...

... which makes me realize that, on 2nd thought, ALL my favorite guitarists are dead!

Django, Segovia, Jimi, Randy, SRV, EVH (well, almost)... the only one still going strong is Jeff Beck!
