I can understand the guy retiring that axe, that is like Ed and his original Frankenstrat, he wouldn't take that one on tour any more, its much cheaper and much less worry to use free endorsement copies instead of numero uno. Easily replaced.
I say hats off to Jeff for having a guitar worth retiring!
Have you worn out your Jackson? Now I know firsthand that that task takes quite a bit of time and effort to say the least. Unless you really want to break the thing, like with a chainsaw or something But then again why the hell would you do that to a finely tuned instrument if sonic destruction????????
Cheers for all the replies folks, I've got the "War at the Warfield" and he's clutching an ESP all the way through it (more's the pity).
Shame he's not playing the Soloist any more but if it is true that he head to retire it then that's one hell of a beating it must have taken, much respect for having given a guitar that amount of abuse.
I wonder how many ESPs get retired after each Slayer tour? He always seems to have a new batch ...
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Hey, sorry for bringing up an old thread, but there's something rather off in this picture.
That's definatly, or at least looks VERY much like a Nazi flag hanging on the Marshall stack.
I'm not Jewish or anything, doesn't offend me really, I just wanted to know if that is a Nazi flag or am I just seeing shit? LOL
Just found it kind of interesting. I've done my share of research on WW2, and find history very interesting and important to know, so I'm not making any judgements on Jeff or the band. All I wanted to do was find out if anyone can/did see this like I did.
Originally posted by RacerX: Hanneman collects (or used to collect) WW2 and Nazi memorabilia. He is not a Nazi.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Why would you collect and especially display Nazi memorabilia in promotional photos if you weren't a Nazi...or at least a supporter/admirer of their belief system? I don't understand why people seem quick to deny the fact that their heroes might be Nazis or at the very least racist and or anti-semitic. I can't get down with that...especially not in the world that we are living in at the moment.
MOVE ON? That is perhaps the most ignorant statement that I have ever heard. You can't possibly be more offensive than to kill anyone that doesn't live up to your "standards." Whether it be the KKK or the Nazis, or the fucking terrorists that did just that on 9/11. Move on? I think not. Living here in NYC, I can't move on. I wonder how fast you would move on if someone close to you was murdered by one of the above, or other, similiar parties.
dude seriously, 18 years later it's time to move on. listen, that shit is badass in a retarded and idiotic way like putting anti-american messages on your guitar would be. Don't think anyone ever accused Hanneman of being a classy guy. But speculating about the personal views of a guy you don't know is even more dumb and pointless.
