Thanks for sharing this vid. He´s the king. I was a basher for this porn-soundtrack, but he´s the king. He starts his own brand, he´s heading for a tour. Nothing but good things. I couldn´t care less about how he dresses or whatever the pricing of this Frankie run will be. Even replacing his bass player. He´s a proud father so what. I´ll catch the first ticket if the tour comes anywhere near my place, which means europe.

That was COOL! Ed's still got it!

If Fender is involved in that amp, I bet it will be fantastic. It sounded pretty good on the clip if you like that type of tone. From the looks of it it still looks kinda Peavey lookin.

        Love to try it out.

I love Ed but that was just aweful. If you closed your eyes and you didn't know it was him.. most of you would be ripping into how horrible the playing was. Because its Ed, I have to cut him some slack.

I thought the amp sounded nice, I like he way it cleans up by rolling off he guitar volume.

John, as far as his playing goes he said he was nervous comming out there. I normally sound like ass for about the first 5 or minutes when i first plug in, after I get a feel for the amp I settle down and play better...

His tone was amazing from the very beginning though. I find it absolutely inspiring to see him play. Ed is the best!

The amp does sound nice. Keep in mind that most good tube amps when turned up really loud clean up nicely by rolling the guitar volume down.

Regarding the fact that he was nervous coming out... he's EVH for crying out loud!!! He didn't sound any better at the end. Sloppy, choppy and he did sound stoned. I can't believe he is still smoking.
Again.... if somebody told you that wasn't EVH himself playing, you would think the playing was horrible. The amp did sound good though and so did the guitar which is what the the point was in the demo.

What video did you watch because it couldn't be the one posted on this thread. C'mon bro, there is nothing wrong with worshiping EVH. I do too! BUT... that playing was aweful. Go to any GC on a Saturday and you will hear 5 hacks that sound like that.
His tone wasn't amazing. It sounded alot like a stock 5150. I should know.. I have 2 of them. There was nothing inspiring about that playing. Its sad to see where Ed is in regards to his playing, especially when you compare him to live Satch, Vai, Gilbert, Macalpine, Lynch, Demartino, Bettencourt or Malmsteen. I could go on with the name dropping but you get the drift.

No. The above mentioned folks are all great guitarists in their own right, but they are not Eddie. But Eddie is Eddie and when he plays a couple of notes, he just sounds like Eddie - and that I find inpiring.
Also, I wasnt referring to the tone of his amp, but the tone he has in his fingers, even though it seemed like he didnt play in a while.

I thought this clip was great. Ed is just noodling away to demonstrate the amp... it's not like he's playing with a band.

IMO he sounded inspired, and still plays with the vibe that he's always had. There is something about the way Ed plays that is so unique... its all heart, not just the clinical technique you see all the time with more modern players.

Hacks at Guitar Center playing that well? I'd like to see anybody here post a clip of themselves doing VH type licks and pull it off anywhere near as good as that. You might be able to play the notes, but you'll never capture the feel.

From what i remember he played a LOT worse sometimes during the last tour, at least from the bootlegs that i have heard.

The playing was hot!!!! I would love to see the original VH but the problem wouldn't be Ed it would be DLR he looked about 70 when he played the 4th of July and tried to bust some moves

When I saw VH in July of '04 Ed, as well as the band, sounded great.

Also, I don't doubt that his slurred speech in this case is mainly because he is missing half his tongue.

I was quick to bag on Ed in the past, and I do think he is commiting slow suicide, but seeing him back out there is exciting. I hope he is able to keep it together to give us more music... as long as it isn't for porn soundtracks
