Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...
"Anyone who tries to fling crap my way better have a really good crap flinger."
I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.
Yes, there's a bee in the pudding.

It was pretty cool seeing him play a bit. It seemed very familiar for him. He's lost a step, but maybe he was just TOO wasted to play at his best. You can tell he was wasted one way or another. I'd like to see some serious stuff come outta that guy. I know he can still play as good or better than before. I just have no patience for fucked up people on stage. Entertain, then go party.

I thought his sound was fine and a-typical. I did not read this thread until after I watched the video- so I was like "Wow - he's using his original axe- ) wow - that reproduction looks right on!
His speach and demenior look like a druggie - but hey, he looked very sincere and appreciative of his fans - so I say "Cheerz to you."Yo Quiero Jackson USA Neck Thru "J" Serial Numbered Customs!

Okay, I just watched all 4 of the videos in this link.
Honestly, this is the first thing I've heard, seen, read, anything .... about EVH in the last 10 years that's brought a genuine smile to my face. Seriously, it almost brought a tear to my eye.
Awesome!

All I can say is WOW! Cools you tube videos. I've been a VH fan since just about their begining. For all those who said he was drunk, stoned...whatever, that's not the case. I think that it was a case of nerves and results of many years of partying to excess. But overall he looked pretty good. He had a sense of humor, and I think he spoke pretty well for someone with a part of his tongue missing! But the real smile came to my face when he plugged in and played. He still has it as far as I'm concerned. Yeah.....a bunch of "hacks" at a GC store could sound similar, but remember, they wouldn't be sounding like that if it weren't for the MAN himself. Come on.....He still sounds like him! That's the most important part.
And as for this being the "tip of the ice cube not even the iceberg" All I can say is GREAT. Finally something to look forward to coming out of Fender! I can't wait to see what's coming, hopefully a full line of guitars and amps in all price ranges that even someone who's always broke like me can afford.
Can't wait for the tour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Guitars:
Charvel: USA Pro Mod Slime Green
1988 Model 2,
Jackson: Dinky HSS 'Blue/Orange Flame'
RR3
Gibson: 1978 Les Paul Spl Dbl Cut
1992 LP Studio 'Lite'
2005 SG Special

I admire all of you diehard EVH fans. You stick with Ed through thick and thin. I jumped ship on him a long time ago when he stopped writing great songs and he stopped having great singers. It was a REALLY long time ago.
He was frikking great around 20+ years ago. I'll give you that.

John, I'll be the first to admit that I never liked Van Hagar much and I jumped ship myself. However, over the last few years it has really grown on me. I think it's because Van Hagar was such a departure from DLR Van Halen - we lost something really great when that happened. But there are some real gems in the Van Hagar catalog. They wrote some truly great songs. And while I've never liked a single song Sammy Hagar has done on his own, he is a brilliant singer and has proven that to me with Montrose, HSAS, and Van Hagar.
As for Eddie's behavior on those vids, it looked like nerves to me. He looked seriously uncomfortable up there. He was so far out of his element. The playing was certainly sub par for Eddie but to be fair he was already uncomfortable and playing a prototype amp.
In my book, it's only been 12 years since a great VH album - Balance is an excellent disc.
BTW, that amp sounded killer.I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

I think it was cool, a little sloppy but who cares, I don't know any guitar center kids who has such a great pitch and intonation, even most of the pro players aren't that good playing in tune, not many have an ear and a feel of Ed
I want that amp, because it looks cool as hell.

I think it was totally solid. Eddie was not drunk or stoned, he is just Eddie. Plus, his choppers look white again! I think he is on the road to recovery, people!
I am psyched.
Go Ed!
MikeSleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

I felt bad for Ed watching this. It's obvious he was super nervous and even mentions a few times about how nervous he is and that he isn't good at public speaking. Like he says himself, he's a musician and not comfortable with the other aspects of being a "hero" or "star" or dealing with the music business.
Not being able to cope in social settings and nerves are what got him drinking and drugging when he was young. I think that was always his way of dealing with these uncomfortable social settings. He always said while Alex was out partying in high school he used to sit on the edge of his bed playing guitar all night. He seems to fit the eccentric musician mold.
Jeeze, I sound like his shrink or something.

Anyone else notice that he hung the guitar back up on the wall with a lit cigarette still stuck in the headstock.
I loved it.
I can imagine him being a bit on edge playing through a prototype amp.
I can't say anything bad about the demo. I just hope he's ready to get back to making kick ass tunes again.-Rick

Ed's a "guitar hero", but also a human being. The dude's been through some very rough times, and deserves a little slack for that.
As to his playing, slag him all you want. But even if Ed were drunk, on smack, and playing guitar while riding on top of a shetland pony in a rodeo, he would have more guitar talent in his discarded fingernail clippings than all of us combined.
Here's hoping he pulls himself together, and puts out some great music again.
