Ask 50 random, average music listener who Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, George Lynch, Paul Gilbert, Greg Howe or Tony Mac is..and see how many respond with .."who??"

You may as well throw fresh blood in the mix..most players already know their ancestry..but it's not doing Jackson any good. I'm trying to appeal to younger shredders, you know the kids that walk around the malls with dyed black hair wearing a Slayer T-shirt because they saw one of their idols wearing that same shirt on MTV..history does repeat itself ya know..

OK, this is turning to yet another..talent, popularity, clusterfuck..

Just make a Paris and Britney model Jackson..they'll sell like hotcakes..if it has a nipple airbrushed on it E will buy one..

OK, don't listen to me, I don't care..let Jackson just keeping sliding into into a hairy black hole of nostalgia..

Say what you will, but I'm 100% right on this one..

Hey, Metallica has a new masterpiece coming out soon. I'm sure the masses are camping out for weeks just waiting to smell that heavily promoted fart..put a Jackson in their hands and all will be saved!

Bub, Dow, Jones says guitar/ shred /metal is at a all time high in 16 years ..Jackson better buy now before it drops!

If you want Jackson to be big you gotta use big names...just like I mentioned...Slash, EVH etc. that kind of names.

There are millions who belive that Gibson Les Paul is the best guitar even they don't know ANYTHING about guitars. They just like music, have the whole Zeppelin catalouge. Jimmy Page was the coolest cat in '71, Page used Les Pauls, Les Pauls are the best guitars.
You must have players and guitars that all the people know not only the musicians.

a 16 year old chick doesn't care about Loomis at all, but she sees Slash on the MTV, she thinks wow cool dude, she wants to fuck him, she gets his poster - Slash holding a Gibson LP. She remembers how the guitar looks and the name on the headstock.

What's that got to do with anything? The average music listener doesn't buy guitars and couldn't tell a Schecter apart from an Epiphone.

It would make a good business for Jackson,to produce Jeff Loomis guitars. A LOT of people bought hellraiser just because of Jeff Loomis.Plus Jackson has lack of USA made 7 strings.

And I think it doesn't matter if the non-musician people know Loomis or not.KNOWLEDGABLE people buy high-end guitars. And a knowledgable guy would know about Jeff Loomis.

Sometimes rich daddies buy 2000 dollars guitars for their kiddies?Yes they do.But it happens very rarely. So it's not a big effect in the sales to promote your guitars to the people who're not musicians.

Jeff Loomis is a great players. He definitely has his share of fanboys. He would kick ass.GET HIM FMIC!

Agreed! But they have to give some stuff up! It's hard to say no to free shit and "yes I'll go with you and pay for it instead of taking my second choice for free"...Usually a few guitars too...I doubt they are going to give loomis any guitars to play...THEY SHOULD!

It's real easy as a bedroom or casual club guitarist to "Stay true" but when you are offered free stuff you have to think about the fact that you can now save money...or in our cases (as guitarists) buy other shit...

Our manager was at NAMM and has ESP, Schecter, Washburn (US Music Corp) and Gibson all interested...Gibson even sent guitars the other day...Don't have em yet but...GIBSON!!!

C'mon Jackson! Step up! (I wish)

No Jackson :O( We were endorsed before the Fender buy out but...They just don't give free shit!

I would go with Jackson even if I had to pay something...as I did with my XTRR but when a guitar Co will send you free shit...It's hard to stay true to you fav...I love my Jacksons but...It's looking like it will be staying home :O(

ESP and Gibson are all over it though...Our manager IS hot!

NOT true..those players in the 80's became big names along with their Jackson..they went hand in hand...and took us on for the ride.

You have to think "young " here...you guys are so stuck in the past it unreal. everyone here is already sold on Jackson..I'm trying to reach out to a new generation here...your not going to do that with Ed, Slash, Vai, Stach and the like..most the younger market don't give a fuck about those players..just us guys that grew up with them.

Randy was to Jackson to what Vai was to Ibanez to what Dime is to Dean now..who was DEAD not long ago.

E do you like ANY new metal bands at all, that you would like to support..I mean ANY???....that's a serious question.

Tim, that was part my point..yes, average people are clueless when it comes to musicians and the they use.

The biggest "benchmark" for Jackson was when Randy a "new" talent came out with Ozzy with his Jackson..that oipened the floodgates..awesome new player (who paid his dues) with an awesome guitar.

That's what I'm going for again here..let the dudes that are fresh and able that have a huge following amoung guitarist make their impact with a Jackson..there are doing quite well for ESP and Schecter sales...those should be Jackson players and sales..they once were.

I think my statement is clear..80's "style" metal is revived in the mainstream for the first time in 16 years ..Jackson should have grabed that bull by the horns..they did it with Mark Morton, they should have did it for Laiho amoung others..all whom also worship Jeff Loomis...which includes Dave Mustaine and Drover.

I'm on Jeff's myspace..his disciples are buying exactly what he plays..amps, guitar and all..

OK I have some "important" stuff to deal with at home..you keep hanging on to the withering memories of the past along with the fading glory day of Jackson and the 80's roster, because that's doing them alot of good right now..

I'm 100% right about this..like it or not..

I gotta help vin with his homework ..Bye!

On the current metal front, they would do well to lure in Jesper and Bjorn from In Flames. They don't appear to be playing ESPs anymore, or not exclusively in any case. I don't listen to Trivium, but they get a lot of attention from the fence-sitters who don't know if they want to "commit" to metal or not. Maybe the guys from Opeth or Lacuna Coil, or some other band that seems to get mentioned a lot in more mainstream circles.

I don't think there are/were many Ben Moody fans, but he was playing SLSMGs...poorly.

Exactly..I don't personally care for bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engaged , Unearthed , Thrice and so forth and so forth..but the kids LOVE them right now..

Jackson is better off trying to target that market than old fart players that most kids just don't give a flying fuck about..

Eddie Van Halen and Slash to your average 14-26 year old shredder is like Eric Clapton, Page and Beck..yeah, some kids like some stuff in their daddy's record collection..but they want their own shit, fresh shit..music that is "hip"..or "cool"..you know it's "swings"..it's a real "gas!..

                      don't be a square daddy-o

I didn't know all the 16 year old girls were hot for guys in their 40s who used to be in a band that had a couple of successful albums almost 20 years ago.

I thought they were chasing after the guys from Avenged Sevenfold & My Chemical Romance now - y'know, rock stars more their own age, that are actually gigging and getting played on MTV.

As far as appealing to guitar players, guitar players usually know who the good players are. My guitar teacher who's into classic rock and jazz and not too much else know who Dimebag, Morton and Loomis are. He doesn't pay any attention to metal, but has heard these guys and know that they can play. Why should Jackson try appealing to people who don't play guitar? Even if someone's just starting out and don't know too many good guitarists, (for the most part) having a big name player like Slash isn't going to make them buy a $1000 signature model.

Don't try to appeal to the masses, appeal to those who know their shit.

If it were up to me, no manufacturer would have spokespeople. I know, it definately helps with sales, but it would even the playing field for companies and a lot of people would be much less dissappointed when they found out that their hero's "signature" guitar was a piece of shit.

the more I think about it, the more I think Jackson was wise grabbing Morton.
                                1. He's not in some flash-in-the-pain flavour of the month band, LOG are the real deal.
                                2. He can actually play.
                                3. His profile is growing and growing. I picked up a GP mag the other day. Apart from the article on Mark & Willie & the discussion about their new sig guitars from Jackson & ESP respectively, his image was featured on the Contents page (although the assclowns captioned him "Willie Adler" ) & in a prominent ad for Rocktron / GHS. In other recent guitar mags, he has featured in Jackson ads, pitching his new sig model and I recently saw a cool fullpage stage shot plugging a Morley pedal or something.

Jackson could do much worse. Imagine if they'd banked on the dude from Staind or from Papa Roach a couple of years ago? Ben Moody was a misfire as is.
