It's interesting that Alexi hasn't been mentioned here yet.
Like it or not, the guy has major influence with a huge and steadily growing market. Alexi does one thing that's important for a company like Jackson. Jackson makes guitars for real guitar players, and Alexi has managed to bring the focus back to the instrument and technique itself and turn kids back on to that sort of stuff. Jackson are already kicking themselves in the dick for not keeping him around, as evident by the release of the RR24. Anyone who denies CoB's influence in the decision to produce that guitar is high.

I mentioned Alexi Laiho at least TWICE!
When I met Alexi before his deal with ESP and asked him about Jackson..he got all salty with me..that lil' fucker was drunk as hell..I think he thought I was from Jackson or something..many beers and language barrier there I guess..
Great player tho..but Jeff Loomis mopped the fuggin' floor with him. COB opened for Nevermore that tour.. rightfully so!"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"

Okay, it was three times I had to break out the text search.
Loomis is a great player, sure. But Nevermore doesn't, and never will, have the wider pull that CoB does (I defy you to find me a chick to wants to be railed by Warrel Dane). The whole point of an endorser is to pull naive people to the brand, and serious Loomis fans surely already know the score...
Alexi can be sort of a dick. I've been to the bars with him on three or four occasions and he's a pretty nice guy most of the time, though. But on that note, Mustaine is a giant cocksucker and still sells a shit ton of guitars, so...Last edited by Argos; 02-01-2007, 02:31 AM.

Sometimes rich daddies buy 2000 dollars guitars for their kiddies?Yes they do.But it happens very rarely. So it's not a big effect in the sales to promote your guitars to the people who're not musicians.
also, most of the kids who start playing guitar also don't know about players like loomis, they know big mainstream names. I rather give Jackson to Blink182 guys than unknown players if we are talking about promo

That being said I can see Slash all the time on MTV, with his new projects, or doing a guest solo with the BIGGEST rock and pop bands. Appearing on big name Hip-Hop videos, sharing the stage with Puff Daddy on music award shows. Not big??? If you say so, but he is WAY bigger then the bands you mentioned...in 1987 and in 2007.
RE do you like ANY new metal bands at all, that you would like to support..I mean ANY???....that's a serious question.
but how much do you know about modern bands wich aren't metal???? The bands wich are REALLY big?
Jackson/Charvel has never been metal only guitar company. Think a little bit out of your box.

Yeah, Alexi was a real tool with me..then Jeff walked outside and saw me and screamed loud as shit and yelled "THE LAW!!!!!"..I just looked at Alexi and said "later..there's the man"..and gave Jeff a "manly" hug!!
I know a dude that was dumb enough to wear a Metallica shirt to the first Gigantour..and he wanted Dave's autograph, BUT you had to buy their last cd TSHF. So he did even tho he already has it..people in line are warning him about his shirt and put's his T-shirt inside out but you can still see it plain as day...he gets up to the booth ..Dave sees this pud with that shirt inside out..tells him to take it off and throws it and tells security to get this dick out of here.."Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"

E ..shredders and metalheads don't care about P Diddy..it was blasphemous when he butchered Kashmir on SNL with Jimmy Page and blashemous for any player with a soul to get on stage with that overpaid, overratted, ebonical nothing..known as Puff Daddy..
E ..again, do you like ANY newer talented true metal bands at all..I mean any??
If so who, and do you support them buying their music.?
Most Jackson players are metalheads..
If you take a poll, I think that would reveal itself without question.."Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"

And P.S., the whole argument of "we want someone who plays just to play and doesn't mind not being paid or about getting free guitars" is total bullshit. Why do you think guitar companies get big name endorsers in the first place? TO MAKE MONEY! Any guitar player who signs up and knows how many guitars Jackson will be selling because of him but who doesn't expect cheap/free/quickly made guitars is a total tool.

I'm talking about marketing you are talking about this???? you said that Slash is no one these days, I proved you are wrong with facts and now you say that when you play with this or that you aren't real. The fact that somone very popular wanted Slash to play with him says something doesn't it...it makes him recognizable among young dudes and chicks. I'd play with puff huiniddy or anyone else that big if I get a chance and spit on the face of some bitter asswipe who calls me a blasphemous sell-out.
You mentioned he played with Puff Daddy, but that was back in '99 or something. 8 years ago.
You alluded to him playing in loads of hiphop videos without providing any examples. That's just the market that's going to be buying guitars too, right? Maybe if they put Slash's face on a turntable or a big chrome belt buckle.
Slash has played with plenty of huge stars in the past. Michael Jackson in the early-mid 90s, on stage with Puff Daddy around '99. He did do something with Ronnie Wood around '02 but that's the sort of company he keeps now. Look at the sort of guest spots he's playing these days - Ray Charles, Cheap Trick, Doro Pesch, Carole King. How many 16 year olds have sought out the Rod Stewart album he guested on in '01?
He achieved legend status with G'n'R, but he isn't current for the kids today. He's about as relevant to them as Jimmy Page is. Like that one kid at school when I was growing up who was all about Led Zeppelin while we were listening to Iron Maiden, there will be kids out there who are all about G'n'R. But the majority of them will consider him an old guy playing old guy's music, like the golden oldie bands & artists on who's albums he guests now.Hail yesterday

examples, hmm how about Outkast video last year? I see velvet revolver all the time on MTV. Old guy or new guy, it doesn't matter, when you want to sell a lot of guitars you need an icon to be your main man. Santana is old has hell, tell me he is not popular among the young people. He is the main man for PRS guitars too. BTW. can you tell that Slash is old? I can't see any difference between Slash in '87 or Slash in '07"There is nothing more fearful than imagination without taste" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

It's real easy as a bedroom or casual club guitarist to "Stay true" but when you are offered free stuff you have to think about the fact that you can now save money...or in our cases (as guitarists) buy other shit...
Our manager was at NAMM and has ESP, Schecter, Washburn (US Music Corp) and Gibson all interested...Gibson even sent guitars the other day...Don't have em yet but...GIBSON!!!
C'mon Jackson! Step up! (I wish)
No Jackson :O( We were endorsed before the Fender buy out but...They just don't give free shit!
I would go with Jackson even if I had to pay something...as I did with my XTRR but when a guitar Co will send you free shit...It's hard to stay true to you fav...I love my Jacksons but...It's looking like it will be staying home :O(
ESP and Gibson are all over it though...Our manager IS hot!
Well, the point is,you don't have to stay true. They have to "make" you stay true. That's the business. If you switched to Gibson I wouldn't blame you.I would say that you made a wise decision.Because you gotta get paid for what you do.
They definitely gotta give freebies.I think they don't do that because the CS's production capacity is real low. They are producing 100 guitars a month or something like that, right? They should increase the capacity without lowering the quality...
...by hiring some kickass luthiers.I wish my hair-color was EDS :/

Has anyone suggested Zakk Wylde yet? I seem to remember him getting some GMW vees made, presumably for the "Randy thing", why didn't he go to Jackson? (Personally I think the guy's a major dick, but I'm obviously in a small minority...) He must be the most-profiled non-dead player in all the guitar magazines, so there's gotta be some sales there.
