• Lillian Axe

On Saturday I was at what was rumored to be the last Lillian Axe show. They owned, as usual. Stevie Blaze has got to be the single most under-rated guitarist on the planet. It was Ron Taylor's 40th b-day. At the end of the show, Ron tried to stage dive. Sadly he picked a spot that was completely empty, and went splat. Not the best way to end the last show of your career.

Any other Chicago JCFers get to see them this weekend?

The last??? I haven't heard that. I'm on a Lillian Axe message board but never heard of anything like that.

As far as being able to go, no.. They always play the suburbs when they come to Chicago.

I hope it's not true, but I heard it in a few different places. I didn't know there was an Axe board.

That's a shame. I grew up in New Orleans (live in Ohio now) and went to countless Axe shows. I remember Stevie playing his original San Dimas Van Halen model Charvel (strat headstock). He really is the most underrated guitar player that I know of.

Tekky--I joined that Yahoo group, and saw the reply to your question. So Ron is leaving, but Stevie wants to continue Lillian without him? That's not gonna fly.

I had a premonition that the Saturday show was going to be their last, even before I heard the rumors. Damn.

Re: Lillian Axe

I talked to a HUGE Lillian Axe fan who has contact with Steve Blaze, apparently that was just the last show on the mini-tour. They are working on a new record which is a throwback to the old stuff, and will tour again when it's done.

This info is from a GREAT source.

They are scheduled to play in 25/26. of June at Bang Your Head festival in Ballingen/Germany.

OK, I'm sorry, I should have posted the whole thing. Steve Blaze posts frequently on the Yahoo group that Tekky pointed me to. The following was posted by one of the regulars there. I doubt that anyone would post complete fiction when Stevie will show up soon to clarify, rectify, etc.

Sort of. Saturday was Ron's last show. It does not mean the band is breaking up, just that Ron has decided to pursue other interests. I'm sure Steve will post more info as he makes decisions as to the direction of Lillian Axe.

I know. That was the bad thing about keeping it quiet...people who might have made gone if they had known, didn't have the choice. The guys wanted to get it all sorted out, what was going to happen now, etc., before making it public, but after this weekend, the word is out. I made sure it was ok with Ron to answer the questions...make
sure we didn't need to keep avoiding the topic. He was cool with it.
Again, I'm sure as decisons are made, Steve will post and let us all know what's up. Till then, it's be nice if everyone would give him some time so he can concentrate on that instead of answering our questions on the subject, yanno?

I still feel guilty about being on that message group and still not getting any of the Near Life Experience albums yet... Maybe I'll do that today.

Yeah heard that about Ron also. They played here(Whitehouse in Niles,Mi) a few weeks ago.Lillian played here alot. Before they joined Lillian Ron,Jon and Rob played in STIFF.They were the home town hero's.Then they left for Lillian.I was just in a band with Rob.Great guy.Crown Royal for those guys. Not sure what happened to Jon Stir. Stevie is underrated. Not many people gave him credit back in the late 80's early 90's.They got lumped into that hair metal label..is Stevie doing the Angel thing still??..Misery rocks....Cort
