Box, I've never been afraid of being flamed, my comments regarding MLK day can testify to that.
I'll reserve comment on the Randy thing just because I think it's tacky to kick the shit out of someone that has inspired many, just because I don't dig him.
Hey man, opinion is opinion! I'd like to hear your thoughts for some reason, dunno why, just PM me and tell me...I like to hear differing points of view I guess. By the way I lied, me and my friend that went to the Opeth show are gonna try and catch the first show of the Van Halen tour in Greensboro.
Stop bitchin', guys! Even if VH is back on the pop wheels, he is still gonna write better shit than those bastards who write for britney, agilera, punks and rap junk. YOU should be bitchin about the last Grammy Rap awards. No matter what VH is going to play, this will boost guitarsm, regardless of his tecjnical ability. Why? BEcause kids will go and buy his cds more and MAYBE play his stuff. Personally, I like Randy better and Ritchie Blackmore, but why meet VH with such skepticism? YOU should be bitchin' anout KISS, Rolling Stones always sucked (almost). Just let the guys in again and see what happens. Maybe the guitar is coming back. Ok, I wouldn't buy a Darkness cd, just because they are pathetic, but those pucks and rappers might, so guitar MIGHT become more popular. See what I mean? If we just block the non-punk-rap bands, we are going to experience more of the punk crap.
Everything said above is my personal opinion. If you disagree, disagree politely.
He still managed to get major puss dressed like that. Shit, I would dress like that now to get 1/3 of the puss he has had.
I saw VH up close on their first big hall tour in like 78 with Black Sabbath... No reason to even bother to see them at this point... I'll live in my embellished positive memories for now... Why ruin it now?
I hold old VH so close to my heart ...I don't even want to hear what they are doing now ..
It'll me even more devastating to me than Metallica ...
Even worse when Halford came out ...even though we knew ..
Even Ozz ...OK guys ...let's take a poll here ..
is it "Blizzard" and "Diary" .... or "Down to earth" and that duet with that oompa loompa daughter of his ..that they play on headbangers ball...
It's gonna suck soooooo bad ...I don't want to even give it a pity fuckin' listen..but I'm sure I'll hear it soon enough on the radio ...that's what I'm afraid of.....Shit there might even be some RAP flava in it...
it's gonna suck harder than Anna Nicole Smith sucking money through an old man's catheter..
"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!
"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.
but to me it still wasn't good as DLR era Halen..The first five albums is "WHY" I play..well a big part of it.
or early Savatage .....but when Criss died he took Savatage with him ...

That's why I respect Blackmore. He's doing waht he likes (but that's shit). Van Halen will probably sell to the rappers, like Santana did. I agree with Horns on this one. Fuckin' rappers.
I look at this as a positive purely from the standpoint of - hopefully - it's helping Eddie climb out of the hole he seemed to be digging for himself.
Hopefully, the tour and "best of" experiences will inspire him to shape up and write some kick-@ss tunes. I'm not holding my breath, mind you, but below average VH is still better than most of the crapola that's popular now. Will it pale in comparison to the original days? Yes, probably.
Would I prefer to see the "old" VH and rockin' intesity they previously had? Abso-fuckin'-lutely! But those days seem to be over, so I've gotten over it. Something will still be better than nothing.
As to DLR vs. Hagar & Cherone, those disks weren't as good because Eddie changed. IMHO, it had less to do with who was singing and more to do with what EVH was doing.
To me, VH was never the same after Fair Warning--back then, they were dangerous, man! But FW didn't sell very well, so out went the danger and in came the fucking Roy Orbison tunes, and then the goddamned synthesizers!
I have to say, though, that at least the F.U.C.K. album was heavier, and had better songwriting, than most of the post-Fair Warning crap they did.
Apparently, the tickets are pretty expensive. I guess it's the "Pay Eddie's Alimony Bill Tour" If it were more reasonably priced, I'd probably go anyway, just to catch a dim glimpse of the brilliance that was EVH.
