Just Heard The New Metallica Song

The thing that sucks about the Justice album is you can't hear the bass.

The thing that sucks about St. Anger is the snare drum sound... Oscar The Grouch pounding on his garbage can lid (bad reggae drum sound)! Aside from the drums, the album isn't really all that bad song-wise, but I'd rather listen to Load and Reload over that.

I could never get over the drum sound enough to even pay much attention to the album; it was just awful. I really don't like their "tuned down, WAAAAAY down" approach to guitars on that one, either. One of the coolest things about early Metallica was how heavy they sounded, when tuned to 440.

same here. I heard one track where the rhythm section had dropped out and thought the riffing was pretty cool. And then the drums came back in and the snare just swallowed up the guitars. bleh

Cliff was the original talent early on. He was the one who brought in all of the melodic stuff, then Hammett caught on to it and was given lessons by Satriani... so pretty much, Kirk copied Cliff.

i think justice is due for a re-mix .. seriously low end farting out, bass nowhere to be heard, the drums are HORRIBLE. songs kick ass though

I Definitely agree that AJFA needs a remix. The current mix doesn't completely suck though, it sounds heavy as hell when you crank it through a good stereo.

If AJFA had the production quality of the Black album I would never take it out of my cd player.

Personally, I hope that having Trujillo in there will help push them back towards their roots. Trujillo loves the heavy fast shit ( Suicidal T. ) and is a monsterously versitile player ( Infectious G ).

Being a soundman myself, St. Anger drives me completely insane because of the snare. I've had gigs with drummers that have their snares like that and I just want to shove screwdrivers in my ears to ease the sonic pain.

Will the new album suck? Only time will tell. I'll give it an unbiased listen when it comes out. Judging it by the crapping recordings of that one new song isn't something I'm gonna do.
