Never got any Ohm cds, but I should pick them up. I do have his Damn The Machine album from the mid '90s... great band!

And at halftime it's already a blowout with that last interception run back for a touchdown by Friedman. We'll be back with the halftime show with the score at halftime now-

Wow. Pretty bold statement. To "smoke" Marty Friedman, one would have to be quite a player. IMO Chris Poland is not that player.

ok, let me rephrase this, Chris is technically more advanced player also he has the ability to play easily in more different styles although Marty is also a very versatile player, also the tone Chris has lately is thicker, smoother and cuts thru better than Marty's tone

Endrik it sounds as though you have not heard Marty's more textural works like Scenes? he uses lots of varying tones and different guitars too.

he doesn't just have one tone.

so is OHM an ancronym for something or is it Ohm like voltage?
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Marty is great player and I love him. But I also think he is better at making melodies and playing awesome phrases, well composed solos. But tone-wise I don't think he 'gets' it. Chris does have a better tone to my ears, and also knows how to use it better, more complex and delicate nuances etc.

I have heard everything that MR. Friedman has done (well not the Deuce and Hawaii stuff).

OHM is a fusion band where Chris plays guitar.

don't get me wrong, I think Marty's best stuff was his solo albums wich he did durning the 90's...Scenes and stuff with Kitaro and whatnot, and he had his best tone at that time...wich is pretty good tone but I personally think that Chris has a way better tone. Marty's tone isn't all that good lately IMO and Megadeth has always leaved me cold sound wise.

BTW. Marty was influenced of Tak Matsumoto who is a master of mixing Japanese traditional music, new age music and rock guitar, now he has a motherfucking awsome tone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPWMpcNbXTY

Oh, I know he's a much better bassist, but I think that Cliff's style fit the song more. I just like the original Orion better. Cliff's just my overall favorite.

ANd he didn't really just follow what the guitar did. That'd make him like the guy from Cannibal Corpse, fingering really fast (nothin against him, he's amazing at what he does), but cliff added so much extra melody in the softer parts as well as some heavier parts.

also, Cliff was the one who brought the melody to 'Tallica in the first place.

                        so pretty much:

                        Better player: Trujillo
Personal Favorite (due to style): Cliff (but Trujillo aint too far behind)

I like both. Depends on my mood, though. If I want to think I listen to one, if I don't, I listen to the other. I'm sure you guys can figure out which is which.

In thrash metal's hayday, I listened to more Metallica. Now, I listen to more Megadeth. This probably has something to do with me getting a Jackson, he-he.

Oh, and I like Chris Poland's work on Peace Sells alot, but overall Marty is my favorite.
                            Cheers!

What do you recommend I should buy of his albums? Koi Uta was beautiful!
