  • Rolling Stone new guitar gods

The new Rolling stone has this list of the 20 'new gods' of guitar. And its 80% a bunch of wankers that have been around for years - and not unknowns either - John Frusciante, Derek Trucks, Tom Morello, Jack White, 2 Pearl Jam guys, Adam Jones, Warren Haynes...

A good 25 minutes of intense, probing research went into that story.

And the only really believable guy on that list is Tom Morello imo

      ahaa, Rolling Stone strikes again.

I love Warren Haynes, amazing player, amazing tone...but he is an old guy who has been around for a long time.
But Derek Trucks is new compared to the others, pretty good player too.
Adam Jones...great...but he isn't that new.

LOL, I saw the cover in Blockbuster, laughed, and kept walking.

Not even worth my time to have them insult my intelligence and read their garbage.

Didn't they have Jack White from the White Stripes near the top of their all-time 100 best a while back?:ROTF: I actually like some of his catchy pop songs, but come on!

They also have Kurt Cobain at 8th, and Rhoads at like 80th. Now I think Kurt was good but thats just stupid. And in relation to the most recent Rolling Stone list, :ROTF:

EVH was behind Ike Turner on the last list. All EVH did was change the way rock guitar was played for a good decade or so......... not much of an achievement.

                        "popularity contests" ..plain and simple.

Rolling Stone, and the ilk are completely oblivious to 99% of TRUE guitar "gods" IMO!

I agree, Rolling Stone sucks the big one.

However, Derek Trucks is an amazing player. I was quite surprised they had good enough sense to put him in this article. Especially since he's not popular with mainstream (i.e. stupid) music consumers.

Trucks is disgusting. I saw the Allmans a couple of summers ago and had to get a wheelbarrow for my jaw.

Sadly, Rolling Stone is now run by FAR LEFT, NON-MUSICAL idiots who try and force their agendas down our throats. Everything with them is political- and I love the dopes who love to read it- they all seem to consider themselves the 'true' musically educated people and the rest of us are wankers.

I will never spend one dime supporting their rag. Ever.
