Who Should Quit?

Rod Stewart is one of the few who admits he can no longer write, but he is making a mint on doing sappy covers. Aerosmith is in denile because they keep pumping out new songs that are so chick, but they did put out Honking on Bobo which is a kick ass Blues CD which is the direction they should go since they do it well.

Journey, Foghat, Bad Company, Foreiner, etc... have to just resolve that their furture is on the casino tours.

Sports is another area where players don't know when to quit.

I'm with the Hippy on Slayer though......

I was a huge thrash metal fan at the age of 15, I listened to most of those bands and I never liked Slayer no matter how much I wanted to like 'em. I can't deny their influence but damn... I think their songwriting, sound and guitar playing just sucks donkey dick.

Well Jeff Scott Soto is apparantely singing with Journey.. so it would seem some of the good singers go to Journey.

Aerosmith does donate quite a bit to charity.. so least your money contributed to a small percentage of a charitable cause.
Last tour was 'the root of all evil tour'.. not like they're saying, we're NOT in it for the money there.

I don't get threads like this. How would you like if someone told you what you should quit? Quit working, quit fucking, quit driving, quit drinking, whatever.

If they're still having fun playing and there are still fans that like them and are willing to pay, more power to them.

And Metallica "right place, right time"? Give me a break. If you'd seen Metallica live in 1986 right after Puppets was released, you'd have a different opinion. I saw them play a couple months before Cliff died, and they absolutley OWNED. They were incredible regardless of what the year was. Now more recent Metallica, not really my thing but they're still fun to watch live.

And I completely disagree with you guys about GnR. I saw them a couple months ago with the new lineup and they were fucking awesome. Bumblefoot is an excellent guitarist and Axl actually sounded really good. I went to the show with low expectations, but they put on a 3 hour show that blew me away.

Nobody has told ANYONE they should quit. We are merely talking amongst ourselves, and sharing our opinion. Unless Axl happens by here, now and then.........................

yeah. i still dig testament, exodus, anthrax, but i don't listen to it as much as when i was a kid. these days it is more powermetal. it has he speed of thrash but it is more melodic so it appeals to my older ears better.

i still love slayer's "show no mercy" and occasionally "hell awaits" but i just overall don't care from them.

The greatest band in the world keeps knocking 'em out, and that is the Rolling Stones. Hate them(probably for all the wrong reasons) or love them(I do)you cannot deny they are very possibly the most enduring and coolest cats on earth. Of course their older stuff is the best up to Black and Blue- '76 and maybe even up to Tattoo You-'81, but they keep rolling and that demands respect.
