Umm.. No, you're really not... But, expected from a Winger Fan, hehe....

I figure anyone that goes to Winger concert (especially wanting to hear 17) deserves whatever horrid stuff they could bring on. I'm just surprised Reb could stomach doing that stuff...

Ok thats it... im seeing Slayer! Im like most of you, in that i was there
to see Reb shred. Actually the other guy was fantastic and kinda upstaged Reb imo. And Kip needs to lose the shrill "Screaming"! Especially
when its way too loud anyway. Just overall a bust imo. I still remember
the first time i saw the video late towards the end of "headbangers ball"
and i nearly jumped out of my chair! Madelline made me run down and
buy that first Winger album, and Reb was a breath of fresh air back then.
Dont get me wrong, he still flew around the fretboard, but his sound
was mushy, and didnt cut through well. He should do the Vai route, and
go out on his own. IMO the next G3 would be great to have Satch, Reb,
and say Greg Howe as the 3rd guy. I would be in heaven

        To each his own.

I couldn't stand 5 minutes at a Slayer show. Just a big wall of noise to me. But then again, I never considered growling into a microphone a display of talent.

Can't say I like the new stuff, though.

Back in 93-94, he used to play at the Library Cafe all the time.
We we're all "Who the fuck brings two full Marshall stacks to play a club that holds 200 people?" Michael Nitro would. Talk about overkill.
His shit was so loud, we never bothered to mic his shit up.
Which usually meant we had to crank the PA for the rest of the band to levels that made it impossible for anyone to have any kind of conversation short of full on yelling.
He refused to turn it down saying things like, "Well the people came to hear me play, so they shouldn't be talking anyway." Umm.. yeah, what if they want to order a fucking drink asshole? Pissed our bartenders off to no end.
You had to basically order your drink between songs if it was anything other than a beer. And we would just have the people point at the tap for which brand they wanted.

I'm sure his playing has improved over the years, I just hope is "I am a guitar god" attitude has as well.

See, I've always preferred the heavier stuff like Slayer. I don't own a Winger album, but I do appreciate Reb and his playing. The only reason I went to the Kip Winger solo show was because some friends dragged me along. It was cool, but not something I'm really into.

Hell, a few years ago a friend had an extra ticket to see Bon Jovi at Giants Stadium, so I went. I don't own a Bon Jovi album, but I knew most of their songs. They sounded great, put on a really good show. I was, however, wearing a Slayer shirt! There was one other guy I saw there wearing an Overkill shirt; we just kinda laughed at each other.

She burns at the stake like a witch...
cut her, slash her, slit her thoat...
there's nothing I despise more... than a bitch!!!

See now, Overkill had some good stuff on that first record. Rotten To The Core, Feel The Fire, and Hammerhead for example. I just can't get into the mindless speed thrash that has no melody whatsoever.

Overkill's one of those bands who I'll keep buying albums from as long as they keep putting them out!

Slayer just likes to pummel you over the head and keep going. Tom Araya has just a hint of melody in his voice... just a hint. I'll still buy every Slayer album, too.

+1 on Slayer... Tom doesn't really growl either... as far as overkill... I'll take Anthrax over them anyday.

I saw Winger at the begining of February at Mulcahy's in Wantagh, NY...I thought they sounded great and they kept the new songs they played to a minimum....they deff busted out all their hits...Seventeen, Madeline..etc...and Reb sounded great...they even stayed after they show and hung out with all the fans...it was a great time...here is part Rebs solo from my friends phone...the picture sucks but the audios there...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBkdBifUaXI

Ok...remember how loud Nitro was? They were 2/3rds the Volume of
Winger! Winger was insanely LOUD! But then seeing Winger in a room
that was 50 feet, by 40ft is just too damn small! Maybe the sound would
have been great in a 150/150 ft larger room? Probably

Umm.. it is a wall of noise, haha... Just good noise. I don't think the kids are worried about talent, just about aggression release and fun I think. Ya gotta love it.

                                Anyways...

I was hanging out with Reb and Don a couple months ago when Dokken was here playing a private party at the House of Blues here, and Reb wasn't really shredding tremendously there either. They weren't having an amaizing time tho really. Although well paid they said.

I was only there to see Reb as well... Super nice guy tho for sure.
