  • Andy Timmons in concert last night

Hey, last Wednesday I was in my local music instruments shop to buy some strings and the guy that works there told me "dude, are you going to see Andy Timmons tonight isn't it?" and this was my face:

I forgot about it! I just heard some rumors weeks before. Anyway during 19.00 oclock I drive to the theater and they still had tickets!

It was the first time I saw a guitar hero live show. It's been incredible. Andy is one of those guys that DO sounds exactly like his CDs. Same tone, same feelings, just more punch. I have just Ear X-stacy vol.1 and he played songs like electric gypsy, farmer sez, I remember stevie from that album. He's also a very funny and down to earth kind of guy. It was raining a lot that day and during his show drops started to fall on his amplifiers (some problem in the theater roof I suppose) he just laughed and keep to play. I'm really happy to have seen his show here in my city, this week has been a pain in the ass for family matters and shitty jobs event so this was like heaven for me.

Now the infos you just want to know: GEAR!

He used two mesa stilettos head with 4 2x12 mesa cabs and a gmajor iirc. 3 Shure sm57 a vox wah and a peterson blue pedal (dunno what it is). That's it. Killer killer tone. That night I also discovered he's no more a laney endorser but he now endorses stilettos.

Here you can see two video from that night, his band mates were really great as well, that drummer is totally crazy!

Btw,anyone knows what model is his 22 fret, maple fretboard,3 color sunburst rg?

I believe it's an RX model but aren't they cheapo models?I don't think Andy would play a cheapo guitar even with a pickup swap.

Andy is a monster player and does not get enough recognition.

That was the AT-100, an endorser model. Not an RX

                Great story, thanks for sharing!
I've heard great things about Andy and need to check him out...unfortunately the only playing of his that I've heard is on the Danger Danger "Screw It" album (I believe he joined the band after the first album was cut). What would be a good starting point?
Recent Mesa ads have shown him with a Stiletto and a Lonestar...are you sure both heads were Stilettos?
I would bet the the blue Peterson pedal was the Strobo-Stomp tuner.

No wonder the Stiletto is getting so popular now. I guess it just needed some players with GREAT tone to endorse them. Killswitch Engage and Andy Timmons. Not bad. BTW.. the tone he gets live is EXACTLY what a Stiletto sounds like. Just buy one and throw a G-major in the loop and you are good to go.

Dude I'va only ear X-tacy vol.1 but I love it, it's full of great tones, skill and melodies. Regarding amps...well I thought one was a stiletto ace...but it could be a lone star, they're pretty similar aspect-wise.

Saw him at Hammerjack's right after he joined Danger Danger and he was insane.

Like Doug Aldrich, he's a guy I always felt went under-appreciated.

+1000 on that. He and Doug are monsters that get very little recognition for their skills.

Wow, what a great video showing the difference between Reb and Doug:

Doug's tone and vibrato are to die for.

I had no idea of who Andy Timmons is. (Hangs head in shame). Thank you, what a great player. BTW, the blue Petersn pedal is a 'Strobostomp', strobe tuner, in pedal form.
