I caught some live Olivia Newton-John on the tube the other night, and guess who was playing guitar? Yep, Andy Timmons.
Met him briefly at a Dallas guitar show, seemed like a nice guy. I dig his playing a lot.
that being said, it's hard to compare these two players, so different, Reb isn't a monster picker but Doug could NEVER play Reb's crazy jazz fusion stuff.
Reb is from the EVH school, like Steve Vai, a lot of tapping, legato, out of box jazz fusion lines, a lot of whammy bar wanking, harmonics etc. superstrats, bright Marshall tone.
Doug is from the Gary Moore school, like John Sykes, strats and LPs, very bluesy, great picking hand, FAT and THICK tone, lotsa bends and expressive vibratos.

I try to be on the fine line between players like John Sykes, Gary Moore, Doug Aldrich, John Norum etc. ....and.... EVH, Vai, Lukather, Greg Howe, Lynch, Beach, Demartini etc. It's tricky to combine both of these sides
