Reb just admits he cant hang at the end there. He knew and admitted how outclassed he was. Doug's tone is just crushing in that clip!

Yeah man, Reb is a kick ass player, but he just isn't in the league as Doug at all.

Doug certainly had the better tone in that dual. I still love Reb's style although he looked out gunned in that video. Tappers can never beat pickers.

I caught some live Olivia Newton-John on the tube the other night, and guess who was playing guitar? Yep, Andy Timmons.
Met him briefly at a Dallas guitar show, seemed like a nice guy. I dig his playing a lot.

Well, that tone of Doug's really bugs me.It has too much delay and the neck pickup makes it sound "not nice" for me.Reb's tone is a lot better imo.

that being said, it's hard to compare these two players, so different, Reb isn't a monster picker but Doug could NEVER play Reb's crazy jazz fusion stuff.

They're both ridiculously great players. I just was amazed at how different they are when you see them stripped back like that.

If you watch the Dokken "Live From The Sun" DVD with Reb, he just rips thru the Lynch stuff with ease (better than I ever saw Lynch do it live).

Reb is from the EVH school, like Steve Vai, a lot of tapping, legato, out of box jazz fusion lines, a lot of whammy bar wanking, harmonics etc. superstrats, bright Marshall tone.

Doug is from the Gary Moore school, like John Sykes, strats and LPs, very bluesy, great picking hand, FAT and THICK tone, lotsa bends and expressive vibratos.

Well,I'm not a good player but I can say I'm from the Gary Moore school, too.

                          Even tough,Reb's better imo

I try to be on the fine line between players like John Sykes, Gary Moore, Doug Aldrich, John Norum etc. ....and.... EVH, Vai, Lukather, Greg Howe, Lynch, Beach, Demartini etc. It's tricky to combine both of these sides

I love all 3 of these guys!
All very much their "own" players.
I wish I was 1/2 as good as any one of them
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?
