G3 07'

So I just got back from the show in LA. The mix was horrible from where I was sitting (left balcony)... very loud but not very clear (too much distortion) and the lead guitars were way too low in the mix.

This was my first exposure to Gilbert and he was great, much better than in the youtube video that was posted recently here. Satriani was solid as usual. Petrucci was on fire! Awesome playing in terms of speed AND feel.

The encore was a Foxy Lady/Purple Haze medley with a little Voodoo Chile thrown in, Goin' Down, and Jumping Jack Flash. Overall it was a great show... my first G3 even though I've seen all of the DVDs that have been released.

Anyone else make it to the LA show? I hope we can get more reviews here as the tour moves across the county (and through Canada).

This tour started a week ago and only one review? What's up with that? Let's hear from people that have gone.

BTW - does anyone have a list of backing bands for each of the guys? I've heard Bruce is playing w/Paul and Portnoy w/Petrucci, but that's it. Their sites didn't have it listed either (that I could see).

I'll be seeing them one week from today in Atlanta!

I don't remember all of the players, but Bruce was playing with Paul and they did a lot of unison stuff - sounded great. Portnoy of course with Petrucci and Larue played bass for both Petrucci and Satriani.

They're not coming near me either or I would go. I've seen Satch before and Petrucci a couple times with Dream Theater. Petrucci is always impressive! Satch was good too. I've never seen Gilbert live but would love to. I can't believe they're not coming to either Cleveland or Pittsburgh
