    Miles Davis: "Tutu"

Check out Joseph Foley Mcreary playing the metallic blue Picollo bass which is a bass guitar tuned up an octave, watch and listen closely when he does his solo, this is some crazy stuff he plays. No wonder Davis picked him to replace John Scofield

Now, that was pretty damn cool overall.
I need to check out more stuff like this.
Sounds like the soundtrack to a 70s detective TV-series or something, way cool

Marcus just kills, unfucking beliveable, I have all his albums, my fav. modern bassist by far. he has the best bass tone ever.

and well Miles is a god..... he and Marcus wrote that tune

I also love David Sanborn's pharsing on a sax, very tasty player.

Have you ever heard Victor Wooten?

This dude blows Stanley and Jaco away with one hand tied behind his back- just to make it fair.

yeah I love Vic.... but he ows a hell of a lot to Stanley and Jaco.... and Larry and Marcus... and well Bootsy. But you can't blow other players away with technique only when it comes to bass playing.... it's not like guitar playing.
I like Vic a lot but I like Marcus more because his style is more groovier and powerfull + he has the most ballsiest, fattest and clearest slap tones ever.
like here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHf7DvVpeiU when the tune starts at 1:20

Vic is a technique monster tho, he can play EVERYTHING very EASILY. He is probably the most versatile player along with Will Lee.
He took the double thumbing slapping to another level.
But there's a player called Bill Dickens.... I almost fell out of my chair when I saw him. He plays all the scales up and down faster than Yngwie with Slapping!!! And every note he hits is clear and powerfull. That being said when he lays back, he is an awsome groove player.

that being said no one comes close to good ol' Louis Thunder-Thumbs Johnson. The most agressive and powerfull slapper ever.... incredible speed without any double thumbing or other modern technique.
