Oh, and Evol, you listed Anthrax as a band that weren't posers... Wow... did you ever watch or listen to anthrax? :ROTF:

Yep,seen them plenty even was lucky enough to get the chance to hang out with them as well.....and I don't recall them ever wearing makeup, poofy hair and faggy clothes, prissing around the stage playing love songs with their lips puckered out singing songs about Cherry fucking pies either.

super macho looking band Judas Priest..now that's gay...literally

And isn't it ironic that a "gay" band like that, gets much more musical respect and is highly revered these days over ,hmm let's say a band that "got all the girls" like Winger or Warrant or some shit?

I dunno, could it be because their music was a bigger focus than their weenies?

They were hair metal posers earlier in their career. Then they started with their whole overdone NOT man, comic book, writing for grade school kids...

Guess you never read the guitar mags back in the day either?

Of course they never approached the gayness of glam metal, but they did their fare share of posing...

        • Heck, even Pantera were a hair metal band at one time. Every generation has it's version of putting on your mom's high heels - our generation had hair metal, before us people went to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, in the 90's they wore their lesbian mom's flannel outfit, etc.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

but Endrik will tell you that the only reason any of us here picked up guitar in the first place was to chase pussy....and if you say you didn't, you're lying

Sorry, from Fistful of Metal on to today, they still kick ass,and were NOTHING like the hair band posers of the day, there is no comparison.....it's not even close.

                    And Endrik is 100% correct.

Thats also the reason that most of us married guys stop gigging. Without the groupie factor.. whats the point?

                    • I must've been a stupid 12 year old. I remember wanting to make cool noises like the guys I heard playing guitar on my dad's albums. At that age, I never made the connection between those guys playing guitar and getting poonani thrown at them. I don't remember Hit Parader writing about the quality of the tail Adrian Smith was getting on the Beast on the Road tour

You are so completely full of shit!

You may not have made the connection at 12 but I bet it hit you like a ton of bricks once you turned 13!!!

                        • That connection sure isn't there now. I don't know a single girl that even listens to bands with good guitar playing, let alone goes out to their shows.

hehe. Yea, but my point is that it wasn't the reason I picked up the guitar in the first place. It was more a kind of side benefit I discovered later. A perk.

My daughter has been playing guitar, on and off, for a couple of years now. I sure hope she didn't ask for her first guitar at age 9 because she was thinking about cock!

it was never about good guitar playing. I don't play. Hell, I don't even own a guitar. I just walk around downtown with an empty guitar case & my floppy jet black hair hanging in my mascara-ringed eyes and watch the girls swoon as I go by. Of course, that could be due to the unwashed black clothes I wear all summer....

don't even go there, that's just plain silly

it's everyone's own biz what they do on their spare time... read books, watch Discovery Channel, shop at womens stores', shoot smack, discover new hair-styles, fuck groupies, play pocker, hang out with fans, drink shit loads of booze, go to Disneyland...etc. etc. everyone chooses his own actions.

But when it comes to music, then it's fucking stupid to say that one is more about the music than another. Just because some dude has neon green and pink clothes, huge hair and likes to party doesn't mean he is less about the music than than a guy who dresses more conservatively and spends most of his time sleeping.

People would never write/play music if it isn't important for them. There's 9999999999999999 easier ways to get famous or rich. One of the hardest things is making it in the music buisness.
If someones doesn't care about the music, he/she would choose another "job".

And it's funny that you compared Winger to Judas Priest because Rod Morgenstein is a jazz-fusion-prog drummer who played in Dixie Dregs and Reb Beach played the same kind of music and also worked as a session guitarist.... the shit they played is a lot more demanding than Heavy Metal and has a way more narrower audience and no chance at all to break into the mainstream charts. They played that stuff because they liked it. What you are saying is absurd.

like Donny said "fuck being good on a guitar, it's all about the threesome"
