Watch the whole thing - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98y0Q7nLGWk and then revisit your statement.

I'm sorry but any 15 year old girl who can play Paganini in my book ,well, she's "up to scratch".

    Or - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OMcw...elated&search=

    Or - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQ0J1hqdcK8

Feel free to eat your words now,I don't care what orchestra says what,if they were to pass on talent such as this, their loss, but that doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

And to you guys bashing the 14 year old girl who did the Salute to Randy Rhoads. SHAME ON YOU!

Bunch of arrogant and opinionated assholes...

We should be *GLAD* there is a 14 year old,be it girl or boy who finds such amazing joy in playing the instrument and wants to play leads at that,in this day and age of rap and emo/puss rock. I have 2 daughters that play and while neither is at that level as of yet,if I heard someone saying that they suck I would kick their teeth into the back of their head.

We should be encouraging this, not telling them they suck, and aren't worthy of being in a magazine,...the girl obviously holds Randy as an influence, and if you listen close you can hear elements...small ones mind you, slides and little tiny licks that she took from his Tribute solo...and I think he would be proud that almost 30 years past his death here is a young girl that idolizes him and wants to pay him a Tribute in her own way. Sure, maybe she's playing too fast, trying to anyways for her current ability, but so did Jimmy Page, and he's been in plenty of Guitar mags. I still would be damn proud of that kid.

For you jack-offs who think it's perfectly ok to put down a kid learning to play I have two sound pieces of advice for you :

    1. Never teach guitar
    2. For the love of God,do NOT breed!

Only on Piano have I ever heard a better female than male musician and they often lack a true legato technique, but they can put more feeling into a larghetto by Chopin, for instance, than any man I've ever heard it play. And I'm sure it's their emotional brain that gives them this advantage, whereas men have a much more logical brain, which would make a technical affair such as shreddery perhaps more of a second nature.

And sorry, 14 or not, female or not, that "Randy Rhodes" tribute was dreadfully sickening, if that is the climax of her playing since 2.5 yrs old, she must have little to average musical talent.
I agree. That girl sucks and has no business being in that magazine. Its all wow factor and marketing. It has nothing to do with chops.
I know a kid (14 year old boy) down the street from me who doesn't even take playing serious and can smoke that little girl any day of the week. How come he isn't in the magazines??
Its total bullshit. Thats why I hate the music business.

well ... I did not really want to revive this thread but for those that said Guitar Player Magazine would not do an interview with this girl I just received my July issue and sure enough she was interviewed...

just a few facts from the interview.

    - started play at 2 and a half using a half size Lotus
    - at 5 she was playing a full size '83 Ibanez roadster
    - practices 4-6 hours a day
    - Satriani 's style is her favorite
    - listens mainly to Hendrix, the Allman Brothers, Reba
    - owns 13 guitars
    - main axe is Schecter C-1 Plus
    - main amp is Vox Valvetronix
    - uses .010 -.046 D'Addario strings and .88 Dunlop Tortex picks
    - she has her owe studio at her parents house

oh, and for those of you looking to take lessons, she is a teacher...

Over at Sludge there was a 15-year-old girl who posted a clip of her playing the solo from Hot For Teacher, asking for tips. She was kinda sloppy and missing some nuances but she basically had all the phrases of the solo, just needed to clean it up and get the subtleties. she says she only started playingt in November, but already has a Strat and a Les Paul Studio, so her folks must be generous.

She posted the clip, and got a bunch of compliments and advice like I said above, just play it a few hundred times and dial it in. Then she pulled the video because I guess it embarrassed her. Teenagers.....

Not bad for 14. Though, it sounded more akin to Angus Young than Randy Rhoads.

That... is horrible. Pentatonic box over, and over, and over, again?

    Marks for enthusiasm though.

But still horrible. I rather doubt she will be in Guitar Player. Plus, "Rhodes"? Sigh.

That other girl doing the Rhoads and Gilbert covers is about 10000 times better, and she's 16.

Hang on, I love Anthrax as much as anyone here ('cept maybe Em), and I gotta agree with Xeno here. Those guys were everywhere. Big hair, bright colours (shorts mainly!), cheesy grins, trendy pointy guitars.....
Granted, they weren't taking it as seriously as the others, but they certainly put it about.
    Damn, those was great times!

Actually I wasn't a little boy in those days,so yeah....

And none of those bands you mentioned are posers by definition where I was at in those days, examples would be :

    Poison
    Winger
    Warrant,etc...

The bands who poofed their lips, wore girls makeup, neon clothes, etc and played love songs and sang about Cherry Pie and other stupid shit lol.

So,to me,no Anthrax is not even close to being a poser band.
