I like John 5 but what the heck was the point of that cover? I think it sounded stupid.

My friend Lenny Mazzotti used to own the best club in downtown huntington beach, and back around '93 or so, Randy Castillo had a band called Red Square Black, and I saw John5 that night and it was in a small club/ bar, but they and he were incredible. i've always known that guy could cook at a moments notice. he's clean as a whistle too when he plays live, the cat can fly.

          Mr. Hoody -

Agreed, that guy is a smoking player...I just don't get the GNR cover thing, it's not representative of his best work.

Agreed, he's a bend-behind-the-nut, country/bluegrass/metal, chicken-picking/chugga-chuggin' MANIAC if you check out his solo efforts.. When Dimebag and even Les Paul love(d) this guy I think that's saying something..
Like I said earlier, nothing you'd ever know listening to Mansons albums.

John's a monster player and a uber talented all around musician. It amazes me that a guy who did Manson's crap also did the likes of KD Lang, as well as DLR and Zombie (current gig). Educated Horses is actually kinda cool.

There's a clip of J5 from the Manson days doing a chicken pickin thing that's just awesome!

                Suit me up-lol

me too! i'd play in his band any day. dude's got one of THE best voices in rock, and talk about "kill you in the face" guitar tones.

Manson is one of the few rockstars these days.

Manson rhymes with Hanson. Not rock. No sir.

Since we seem to be on the topic of "weird named ex GNR guitarists"... Ron Thal aka Bumblefoot would definitely be my pick over the KFC dude.
+1 on Bucket... noise...no melody at all... technique true, but
just noise imo. I can listen to BH for more than 30 seconds
