IMO, this album is way better than TSHF, but still not as good as TWNAH.

Disappointing. Forgettable songs and canned guitar tones. The last album at least had a few good songs — Back in the Day, Scorpion, Something That I'm Not — but here... nothin'. Moto Psycho, Breadline and Crush 'Em are better songs than anything new here. The re-make of A Tout Le Monde only makes that more painfully clear.

Also pretty shitty making it known in advance that the wide release is missing at least four tracks available in other versions. Most notably a cover of Led Zep's "Out on the Tiles." Not really sure how that song would have fit in with the other subject matter on the record, though.

What's the political statement he's trying to make? Bomb the UN or something? They were crying about the "bad image" of being named Megadeth eight years ago, being interviewed in Penthouse and car audio magazines. Now it's all terrorism, Final Judgment and shit. I like Mustaine's songs for their insight into the modern human condition, not just a regurgitation of CNN. Or the 700 Club.

I've been an apologist for Megadeth for a long time. I even found things to like about Risk and The World Needs a Hero. I still love Megadeth, but this album blows.

I'm disappointed too about this record. I had great expectations on it, since this new line up seemed to be promising and also for the collaboration with Andy Sneap. But unfortunately production-wise, it does not have that "Megadeth signature sound", production is just too plastic if you know what I mean, this can be good for modern bands, but not Megadeth.
Songs are good, it definetly has its moments, but this is not enough.
TWNAH is a very underrated album imo.

Okay it arrived. First four songs are awesome, but strangely could be better. From there it's all downhill. Some songs have good groovy riffs but overall the songs are boring. Is it better than TSHF? Yes, and only because there's no filler songs this time. And the Vortex riff is totally in one of the songs here. Dave doesn't even try to hide it.

As far as where this album fits in their catalog...music is Countdown-ish, vocals are solidly Cryptic Writings.

I love the original, this version is strange but not so good in the end, it could have been really better.

I got to thinking about this, and I agree. The just doesn't do much for me. The production just sounds too generic. Plus his guitar sound doesn't do as much for me this album (not that his tone was ever something to go nuts for). I really can't tell how much of it is production, and how much of it is his actual tone (didn't he use Line 6 amps on this?) though. I'm wager a combination of both.

I must say, now that I've lsitened to it more, the acoustic tone on the remake of A Tout le Monde is much nicer then the original. The original was pretty bone dry sounding, and while it set the mood, it wasn't spectacular. The tone on the new version is much more pleasing to listen to, but seems to lack of the edge of the original. In fact, it seems a whole the guitar isn't quite as "in your face" as previous outings, the exception to this being Washingtons Next.

If i have to be honest (and yeah i am honest) ,it sucks!
A great production ,and some great ideas put in a bad mojoed concept!
Glen should play rythm guitar or something else!I didn't hear any nice solo on this album.Sounds like lack of concept ,just putting some licks together.Even Kerry King is more original! :ROTF:
Everything sounds fine ,the drums are descent ,the Bass is amazing ,The rythm tone is cool. But the lack of "lead" is there. And that kills the whole album for me.Nothing special.
I think ,Megadeth means more Friedman than Mustaine for me ,i miss him alot!

I'm a huge Megadeth fan and I have to say that I am disappointed as well. There are some good songs, but nothing really jumps out. I agree with the above statements about the lack of solos. I've never been a big fan of Glen Drover and I have to say after this album I'm still not a fan.

So I've now listened to this album maybe 30 times (iPODs are great for cutting the lawn and commuting to/from work :-). And I have to say I like it a lot more now. There's some great songs here. There's some great riffs here. It's competing for air time with my other new purchase .... "Hellyeah"....and I dig them both. BTW check out Hellyeah it's killer. Karl

Type O Negative's new one, Dead Again, is the main disc that gets repeated listenings right now. Not much on leads (and when Kenny does, it's the Sustainer doing the work) but the songs are a strong cross between Black Sabbath and the Beatles. They throw away riffs like Megadeth used to on Killing and Peace Sells, before Dave realized he could cut a song in two and get twice the roylaties.
