    2 words....Brad Delp

Best Rock n Roll vocalist ever! IMHO

    Other honorable mentions:

    Robert Halford
    Guy Speranza
    John Waite
    Lou Gramm

Mark Slaughter's vocals didn't do it for me.

I enjoy Paul Shortino, Sebby Bach, Brian Vollmer of Helix, Mike Tramp (but maybe Vito just filled in well and made you not notice, Vito Bratta=best metal guitarist of the 80s IMO) and finally Donnie Vie of Enuff Z'Nuff, he had a great Beatle-esque, pop built voice

Let me guess..you like Derek Frigo..he was great but I liked his playing/writing in Lemans before he joined Enuff Z' Nuff...may he RIP.

        Shortino was great..

I could think of lots of great 80s singers........Mark Slaughter would not be one of them.

Someone mentioned Tony Harnell. HELL YEAH!
Like I said, before, Rob Halford
Someone else mentioned Pat Benatar. One of THE best, hands down!
Sebastian Bach can do some great shit, too
          Graham Bonnett
          I'm not Ron!

...Oh yeah..I have an evergrowing library of metal..well over 5000+ cds..

many I have traded off or sold just to make room for the constant incoming of great music and bands..

I could complile a list that would make a T-Rex puke of great singers and guitarist..some were mentioned already..

ummm.. Mark Slaughter is a mud sucker on the singer food chian IMO..I hated him then..and he sounds even more dated and ridiculous now.

But in all fairness, taste is subject and is not a personal attack on the people who like whatever..with that said Mark Slaughter did indeed have "fans".. ..as did Vanilla Ice.

It took me a LONG time to appreciate King Diamond..when I first heard him..I thought the music was awesome , but he was a joke..I just didn't "get it" really..until some friends explained what he was about..he's a good horror fiction author as anyone..just set to music that he writes..and he does all the characters..OK, he's still annoying as hell to listen to ..but I don't judge him by his "singing"..as I do his writing and subject content.

            ..and he's "Satanic"..and I like that!

I gotta agree with the mentioning of Ray Alder and Tony Harnell. Both are still great singers. I'll have to add Midnight from Crimson Glory to the list, too. What a killer voice ! Shame how his personal problems keep screwing up a reunion.

Midnight was amazing..WTF is his deal??

Now THAT's a dude that can hit some high shit and sound like a dude..

same with Warrel Dane back in the day.."Battle Angels"..

I like dudes who can hit the high shit without sounding like fags taking one in the blow hole..

OK Halford is gay...but the dude is awesome so fuggit ...Hey, maybe the goo lubes his voice box or something..I was listening to some Wings of Destiny and Painkiller....FUCK!!!

Nope, numbnuts gets himself arrested again in January <wonderful mugshot btw> and Wade Black is once again the singer. Fuckin' waste ............

                    Halford wins.

I don't care what he does with his spare time, it is none of my business.
The Priest lives on and where is Slaughter ? Irrelevant. The only thing alright about them was the machete silhouette/drawing on the album cover.

                    Regards....rant off....G.D.F. insomnia these days..

I don't dislike Mark, he just doesn't have balls when he sings. Tim Kelly was a good guitarists and "Up All Night" has one of the best riffs of the 80's. Blas Elias was a great show-drummer, the way he plays if friggin hilarious.

But there are more ridiculous dues than Mark, like King Diamond for example.

Halford will never be one of my favourites. He has an amazing power and range but his mid range.... well he is average at best at it.... when he doesn't scream or whatever he sounds pretty booring. Just my opinion.

The reason I like Coverdale the most is because he has unbeliveably good mid range voice.

The most underrated singer in the 80's IMO is Corey Glover... what amazing voice, range and soulful style.

I always felt that Blackie Lawless had a great voice as well.
