  • New Symphony X is badass!

I should post this without proof, but I was able to download (through bit torrent) a few songs from Symphony X's new album called Paradise Lost. It absolutely smokes!

Don't worry I'll be buying it June 5th when it comes out. This disc is definitely worth the $15.

I am surprised they do not have at least one tune posted on their official or myspace site.

                    Been WAYYY too long...
The Gigantour thing set them back a little early on with writing/schedule, then the studio was flooded, then Mike LePond needed surgery, then whatever amp Romeo is using had a failure (guessing a modeler based on the sample tone I heard, and how long it took to get a replacement and get it fixed)...
Just hope it was worth the wait !

I heard a few songs. While I'm happy with the fact that its really heavy, I'm not loving the overall sound of the album that much. It'll proably just take a while to get into for me.

I'm anxiously awaiting it. "The Odyssey" was 2 states and 1 job ago for me.
Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.

I'm digging the samples.. I don't like the vocals a lot.. but since I got used to nevermore, I'll probably get used to this too

It sounds like Nevermore meets Malmsteen..

Mike Romeo is very influenced by Yngwie, as well as Michael Angelo, Mercyful Fate, lots of old-school stuff. I grew up in the same town as him, I took lessons from him around '87, '88.
